About
In 1887 the breweries of Karl Kürschner & Co. and the Gfirm of the Bohring Brothers were combined into the Vereinsbrauerei Apolda AG, and thereby the foundation for today's private brewery was laid. In 1952, during the GDR era, the brewery was renamed VEB Vereinsbrauerei Apolda and in 1969 incorporated into the VEB Getränkekombinat Erfurt. After the reunification, the brewery was privatized in 1991 and has been in private hands again since then.

Black reddish with a fluffy head. Toffee, caramel, raisins, dates, slightly metallic, lemon, basement notes. Fruity malty sweetness, slight metallic bitterness. Light bodied, watery texture, lively carbonated, dry caramely toffee finish. A rather sweet but aromatic Schwarzbier.

"Apoldaer Festbier", Flasche von Globus, Erfurt-Linderbach, 17.9.2025. - Helles Rotgold, klar. - In der Nase schön karamellig-süßes Malz mit leicht ruppigen Zügen, sirupartigen Noten und lebhafter aber derber orangenbitterer Hopfung. - Antrunk für ein Festbier vergleichsweise schlank und angenehm karamellig-malzsüß mit etwas Zuckersirup. Die recht lebhafte orangenbittere Hopfung wirkt leider billig, ja derb. Milder rezent, leicht fuselig. Im Abgang beeinträchtigen rauhe Malzbittere und derb krautige Hopfenbittere das Festvergnügen. - Drahtiges Festbier, das tatsächlich "an ein leichtes Bockbier erinnert", aber unter ruppiger Hopfung leidet. Dennoch probierenswert.
