Description
De naam “Corsendonk” verwijst naar de priorij van Corsendonk, een voormalig augustijner klooster te Oud-Turnhout. De priorij bestond van 1398 tot 1784. Vanaf 1906 werd de brouwerijtraditie van Priorij Corsendonk door Henricus Keersmaekers (de grondlegger van de dynastie) met zijn eigen brouwerij te Oud-Turnhout voortgezet. In 1952 werd gestopt met het zelf brouwen van bier en werd de firma een distributiebedrijf. In 1982 werd op vraag en met de steun van de Oud-Turnhoutse VVV gestart met de productie van Corsendonk-bier.

Het bier wordt van begin af aan gebrouwen door Brouwerij du Bocq. Later is de familie Keersmaeker 100% eigenaar geworden van du Bocq. Dat was een geleidelijk proces waarbij gedurende een periode van 10 jaar elk jaar 10% van de brouwerij werd gelocht. Het was pas in 2014 dat bekend werd gemaakt dat de familie Keersmaeker 100% eigenaar waren van de brouwerij.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - golden with nice lacing. Nose - bready and with white pepper and a touch of white sugar. Candied fruit. Taste - quite syrupy up front. Candied lemon. Palate - tangy and medium bodied. Tangy sweet middle. The finish is a little sweeter than hoped for. Apart from that, great. Overall - good.

Bottle from Beers of Europe shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of light spice and dough. Taste is light sweet, white sugar and spice. Very easy drinking for the strength.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - damson to red cherry colour. Creamy head. Nose - cherry and cherry stone. Edge of marzipan. Taste - cherry lozenge and plums. Palate - great length and persistent fruit. Light acidity - just enough. Overall - lovely kriek.

Bottle from Beers of Europe shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours slightly hazy dark red cherry with a thick creamy head. Aromas of cherry and a hint of marzipan. Taste is sweet, plummy, cherry. Just sharp enough.

Brown with a foamy beige head. Aroma of caramel, plums, spice. Mildly sweet, dry at the finish. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Good.

Bomber, poured dark clear red brown with thick beige head. Full body. Dark fruit and malt taste up front, after that red wine sour. Medium spicy hops finish.
