About
The first mention of the prince's brewery at the castle in Racibórz on Ostrog dates back to 1567. And this date is taken as the date of establishment of the brewery, although in fact the brewery is certainly older because earlier in 1559 Karczma Zamkowa was founded and beer was probably delivered from the prince's brewery. In the 16th century, there were 155 beer houses in Racibórz, i.e. houses authorized for brewing. The first mention of brewing in Racibórz was found in a legal instruction from 1293 on the competences of councilors and lay judges in which it was mentioned that the council and lay judges determined the measures and prices of beer for taverners.

Raciborski Urbacz from 1567 recorded two brewers, Sicha and Mateusz, in the city. The number of strongholds during the year was quite large and amounted to around 500. The castle brewery had two vaulted beer depots in the castle's basement.

The brewery from the very beginning was a very large brewery for those times, as evidenced by the size of the Warka beer with 4130 liters. The golden times for the brewery began in the 18th century, during which time the brewery expanded significantly and supplied beer to taverns from the Liska and Czech territories.

Sparkling clear, golden colored beer with short head. A lot of iron/blood aroma. Some wet cardboard. A little bit of hops. Medium bitterness, high sweetness. Soapiness. Sticky texture, rather light body. --- Beer merged from original tick of Zamkowy Raciborskie Klasyczne on 14 Jan 2023 at 16:51 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 3 | Flavor - 4 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 4.5. Original review text: Gold colored beer, foggy. Low but steady head. Grassy aroma with hints of banana and some roastiness. All faint. It's mainly sweet. Rather low bitterness. Not very good beer. Not catastrophic either.

Bottle, 0.50l, courtesy of Lukasz, shared with colleagues. Clear dark green color with small quickly diminishing off-white head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of grainy malt, green apples, grass with metallic note. Taste starts with sweet maltiness, follows by mild herbal and grassy sourness and moderate bitter finish. Barwa jasno zlota, krotka biala piana minimalnie oblepiajaca szklo. Aromat nijaki, lekko slodowy, chmielu brak.

Big beige head. Clear deep dark red body. Fruity earthy cinnamon aroma with rye crisp bread notes. Sweet spicy cinnamon taste with fruity and red berry notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Sweetish perfumy cinnamon and apple aftertaste with mineraly ashy notes. A bit odd, and very much lacking in bitterness, but not bad. (0.5l bottle, from some supermarket in Warsaw.)
