15 cl pour at Jopenkerk about a week ago. We only had a brief time at the brewery and I made this my only selection. Nice presentation, a shiny amber-brown body with a decent parchment tan head. It tasted of caramel, hops, grain, plums and hard candy. One of the better American style barley wines I can recall sampling.

Fles gedeeld door Roelzie. Het is een diep donkerbruin tot zwart bier met een dun schuim. Het heeft een aroma van gebrande mout en toffee en kaneel. De smaak is vol gebrande mout, caramel, kaneel en rozijnen.

Tap at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 17th March 2026. Pours a thick black beer. Aroma is coffee and sweet. Taste is sweet, coffee, it’s not bad, maybe on the sweeter side

Hazy yellow with a white head. Tropical fruit aroma. Sweet taste with a rather sharp sweet finish. Some alcohol and or hop bite is certainly present. Not bad but a bit unbalanced.

Clear brown with a white head. Dark caramel and roasted malts aroma with some whisky. Sweet taste with a long lasting sweet finish.

Besteld via de Jopen webshop. Donkerbruin tot zwart bier met schuim wat vrij snel wegzakt. Smaak is bitterzoet en kruidig met duidelijk gin invloed en wat chocolade, een beetje koffie en een heel lichte rook smaak in de afdronk.

Bottle. Color: Very dark brown, going towards black. Creamy light brown head. Aroma: Dark malt, caramel, raisins, subtle herbal notes. Taste: Smooth, creamy body. Dark malt, caramel, juniper, herbal notes. Hints of chocolate. Alcohol is well hidden. Hoppy backbone. A bit thin body. Medium body, below average carbonation. Over moderate sweet, moderate bitterness.

Taste: Malty, some roasted malt, dark malt and caramel malt, coffee and dark chocolate notes, subtle fruity Port notes. Just over medium body, below average carbonation. Over moderate sweet, moderate bitterness.
