About
The first record of the inn and brewery “Zum goldenen Engel” in Crailsheim from 1738 reads “annual production volume 150 buckets.” In 1877 George Fachs becomes the new owner of the brewery. The Fachs family still owns - now in the fifth generation - the brewery. In 1984 Engel becomes the first German brewery to bottle Radler. Since the turn of the millennium, Engel-Biermanufaktur has developed into a specialty brewery that regularly receives awards for its beers.

Bottle: Amber coloured, big sized, off-white head, quite stable and lacing; distinctive malty nose with some traces of caramel and honey; sweetish bitter flavour, quite smooth; longer lasting, bitter and sweetmalty finish. Quite O.K...........

Clean dark amber color. Caramel aroma and strong caramel taste, with some residual sweetness and too high alcohol perception. Only at the end it’s more bitter. Ordinary.

Bottle: Hazy, mid-sized fluffy off-white head; sweet grainy nose, some honey in the aroma, traces of cacao or coffee; mild sweetish flavour; chocolatey, grainy and slightly bitter finish. Nothing great, but not bad........

An orange beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty - and so is the flavor, leading to a dry end. A simple but OK beer.

Clear, straw golden coloured, medium sized longer lasting white foam; shy malty nose, traces of cardboard, too; slightly sweetish, grainy to malty start; very mild bitter flavour, then the grainy, bready taste again in the finish with a dash of bitterness coming very late. Creamy mouthfeel. A very pleasant, light and mild EXPORT........

(Bottle 50 cl) In my version called "WM-Bier 2002" - same thing. Beautiful clear amber without much head. Rather full-bodied with weak notes of caramel and a rather sharp bitter finish. 071002

Bottle: Amber to brown coloured; thin and lasting white head; sweetish malty nose, fruity vinous traces and a tinge of roasted malts; quite dry (roast)malty taste, hints of milk-chocolate; light bitter, but mainly malty finish; quite light bodied, lacks a fuller body; to be really good a bit too thin; a not unpleasant Dunkel, though.........
