About
The first record of the inn and brewery “Zum goldenen Engel” in Crailsheim from 1738 reads “annual production volume 150 buckets.” In 1877 George Fachs becomes the new owner of the brewery. The Fachs family still owns - now in the fifth generation - the brewery. In 1984 Engel becomes the first German brewery to bottle Radler. Since the turn of the millennium, Engel-Biermanufaktur has developed into a specialty brewery that regularly receives awards for its beers.

Bottle 500ml. @ home. [ As Engel Helles Vollbier ].Clear medium yellow colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, gabbage water, vegetables, grass, light bread. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, corn, sweet malt, sugary, light vetables, light grass. Fluffy off white head stayed well on an unclear mahogany still body - poured from a bottle with an unusual retro screw top - love it! Malt, caramel, spices & brown sugar aroma. Medium bodied thinning to the back, smooth on the front with a clean tingly aft. Caramel, demerara, malt & berry tastes - very lacking on the finish

Sampled from 0.5 l bottle from local 'toom', best before June 2019. Slightly hazy, dark reddish brown with a thin, slightly fluffy, quickly diminishing, light beige head. Sweetish, slightly sourish, moderately fruity and a bit malty aroma of lemonade, a touch of caramel and traces of nuts. Quite sweet, slightly sourish, moderately fruity, slightly malty taste of lemonade, some caramel and hints of nuts, followed by a short, slightly tart finish. Thin body, minimally astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Okay.

0.33 l bottle from local 'toom', best before May 2019. Clear, dark ruby with a large, dense, stable, off-white head. Sweetish, malty aroma of caramel, nuts and some wort. Quite sweet, malty taste of caramel, grains, wort and some nuts, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly worty and moderately dry finish. Thin to medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Solid NA beer.
