Poured from bottle 761 of 789 thanks Airforcehops hazy brown with a thin off white head. Aromas of light funk wood bourbon. No apples in the aroma. Taste follows aroma but again missing the apple note. Swing and an miss.

500 ml bottle with a bottle number 76 of 789. Purchased at One Stop Market. The color is a dirty brown with bubbly ivory head. Aroma is mild funk, wood, and maybe aspirin. I can’t find any apple in the flavor or aroma. In the flavor I get buttery hints and very weak bourbon hint with wood. Very light funk finish. For $12.75 for a 500 ml, I was expecting something more.

500 ml bottle with a bottle number of 44 of 368. Purchased at One Stop Market, Haverhill, MA. Aroma is oak barrel, funk, and some type of herbal hint. The flavor is what the aroma suggests; herbal funk, mild oak with a mild sourness in the finish. Very approachable for a person who doesn’t like the style. I am happy with the fact that is doesn’t have any vinegar. Not to shabby.

Bottle purchased at One Stop Market nearly a year ago. (It sounded interesting) This is the non-barrel aged variant. Pours a murkey, dirty gold, thin head. The cucumber is light in both the aroma and flavor.

The mouthfeel is light and snappy but does end with a mild trace of grainy (rice) texture. It tastes more like a sake than a beer. Also shows a mild funk note which is very unlike a sake. For me this just doesn’t come together. Not awful but not pleasant either.

750 ml. Aroma is moderate amounts of oak, unripened fruit, orangey citrus. The flavor is balanced with fruit and Oak. Finish has a decent amount of lingering oak and just a hint of funk. Nice level of fruit hints. Nice job from the folks at Black Hog on this. I haven’t had the base but the barrel took really well to this brew. Tasty.

16 oz. can purchased at Spruce Creek Provisions. Poured cloudy golden color with an average frothy white head that lasted with good lacing. Aroma is odd citrus and a note of cucumber. Yes, I said cucumber. Has a strange green character to it.

The flavor carries over the green (salad) character I food in the aroma. Bitterness is almost harsh with a long lingering affect. Ummm it is not bad, different for sure. Not the best offering from Black Hog by any sense of the imagination.
