Description
Blue Lobster Brewing Company will be coming to Hampton, New Hampshire in 2012! Featuring fine craft beers from Michael and Roberta Benoit, Blue Lobster will become a common sight in your favorite local restaurants and bars.
Michael and Roberta have been crafting beer for 30 years (okay, so Michael crafts it, but Roberta helps design and drink it). After many years of wandering the country in exotic places like Texas, California, and for the last 12 years Oregon, they are looking forward to bringing their unique, locally-inspired brews to New Hampshire. Blue Lobster will feature small batch specialty brews, as well as more traditional beers - all served in our own tasting room AT the brewery.

Pours deep clear amber into a tulip. Off-white soapy head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Dark caramel, resin and pepper aromas. Thick with dark caramel upfront turning to bitter earth and sweet toasted marshmallow before the lasting bitter pith finish.

Bottle. Cage broke, which was a pain. Cork was self ejecting, which I fortunately caught in time. After all that, it was NOT a gusher though. Pours crystal clear golden orange, large white head, dissipates fairly slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is dusty, very dusty, Brett and hay. Flavor is medium tart, very dry, lemon and light funk. Light body, high carbonation.

Bottle from Bert’s Medium golden color with a huge bubbly creamy off white head that persists forever. Aromas of mineral water, light sulfur, orange marmalade, muted hops, and bready caramel. The flavor is somewhat earthy and resinous with a sweet dirty caramel maltiness. Medium body and carbonation. Rather unimpressive somewhat muddled beer.

Bottle from Bert’s Pours a clear deep golden color with a huge frothy off white head that persists forever. Minerally caramel with hints of dark fruit and a touch of oxidation. The flavor is rich toffee and caramel with a hint of sulfur and yeasty flavors. Medium body moderate to high carbonation. Not horrible, but lacking when compared to English versions. Maybe I’m actually missing the diacetyl.

Bottle from Bert’s Deep reddish brown color with a small bubbled medium sized off white head that leaves some respectable lace on the sides. Rich bready caramel maltiness with a hint of smoke and juicy pitted fruits. Sweet and fruity with light caramel maltiness and a hint of smoke and light aluminum foil. This recipe needs a bit of work, might be an ale yeast? Felt like more caramel malt sweetness than Munich and the fruitiness is totally out of place for the style. Not as rich as it should be.

Bottle from Bert’s Solid black color with a stinky off white head that leaves a fair amount of stickies to the edges. Aromas of caramel chocolate and light roast with hints of vanilla and nondescript fruitiness. The flavor follows the aroma quite well. Decent porter, would have liked a bit more creaminess and chocolate.

Bottle shared by nmann08 at DC Pre-Thanksgiving tasting. Thanks! Poured a hazy yellow color with only a small fizzy head. Aroma was lemon notes, rind, sweet sugary notes. Funky flavor here, lemon, medicinal, wet hay. Didn’t hate it, but wasn’t really as enjoyable as it could have been. The nicest thing I can say is that they hit the right abv for the style.

Not sure what kind of animal manure this is but this is rough. Smells like old feet and crap. Pours blonde. Funky cheese finish. Bottle thanks to nmann.
