Description
Blue Lobster Brewing Company will be coming to Hampton, New Hampshire in 2012! Featuring fine craft beers from Michael and Roberta Benoit, Blue Lobster will become a common sight in your favorite local restaurants and bars.

Michael and Roberta have been crafting beer for 30 years (okay, so Michael crafts it, but Roberta helps design and drink it). After many years of wandering the country in exotic places like Texas, California, and for the last 12 years Oregon, they are looking forward to bringing their unique, locally-inspired brews to New Hampshire. Blue Lobster will feature small batch specialty brews, as well as more traditional beers - all served in our own tasting room AT the brewery.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a slightly hazy light purple with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of rich tart plum with some dark blueberries and a touch of sour wheat. Flavor is more mild with sour wheat and a growing note of tart blueberry as well as just a hint of light plum.

750 ml bottle from Blue Lobster shortly after the release. Hazy pale yellow with out any head to speak of. Nose is pleasant. Tart apple or pear fruits, Brett like funk that is real mild and some grassiness. Flavor starts off with some musty basement, followed by pale malts and fruits. The grassiness follows in the finish just like in the aroma. Light puckering in the taste buds with light acidic notes. Brett is mild and has a nice rustic appeal. Overall I enjoyed this brew, nice job Dave!

Aroma is full of brett fruit notes - lots of cherry and tropical fruit. Moderate cirrus note and light graininess. Pours a cloudy yellow hay with a thin white head that recedes quickly. Almost no lacing and no legs. Flavor is similar to aroma with some light, sweet graininess and a lot of tropical fruit and cherry notes from the Brett. Light bitterness and a touch more sweetness in the finish. Moderate citrus notes and acidity. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a pretty nice beer with quite a bit of Brett character in both the flavor and aroma. Nice balanced acidity with citrus notes.

On tap at Cask and Vine, Arrives at my bar stool a bit on the cold side, so I took my time with this one. Solid black pour with a decent sized off white head that persists for a bit. Aromas of roasted coffee, dark bitter chocolate, and earthy citrusy hops dominate the aroma. Light pitted fruits and a hint of vanilla round out the nose. The flavor follows the aroma. Highly hopped roasty chocolate with bits of dark pitted fruits drizzled about. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a lightly creamy mouthfeel. Nice brew, I really enjoyed this.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of Lukaduke. Thanks so much, Luke! Pours a cloudy bright yellow orange appearance with a nice white head. Nicely spicy, herbal hoppy aroma in which their tropical fruity brett is center stage with lots of mango, pineapple, vanilla, bubblegum, light banana, and a touch of oak. Tart, quite juicy, lemon, tropical fruity, mango, guava, vanilla oaky, sweet juicy flavor. A fair amount of bubblegum in the aroma and flavor. This was a really nice beer, but I guess it didn’t move me like some other saisons.
