On tap. Odd beer. Crystal clear golden hue with a small white ring of foam. Aromas are of orange, tangerine, alcohol, estery and grainy. Flavors are of vanilla, grainy, butterscotch, floral and medium earthy notes. Alcohol. Marmalade, sweet. Strange off-flavor that I can’t quite pinpoint. Some bubblegum too. Thick bodied, warming.

An orange amber ale with a lacing thin light mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt wit fruity esters, decent. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with light herbal nuts, nice and smooth, quite quaffable. On tap at Barcade Dec. 30 2011.

On tap. Pours with a crystal clear blond-yellow hued body with a lasting white head. Aromas are bready, malty, honey, floral and toasty. Flavors are sweet (malty sweet), up front with mild salinity and minerality. Floral, honey, bready. Good. Lively bubbles, dry and light bodied. Really solid as a Blonde Ale (not so as a Kolsch).

Location: Draft at Ginger Man, 11/12/11
Aroma: The nose is super cinnamony and sweet, an aroma of the season, with pumpkin pie spices
Appearance: This one pours into the glass an orangish color with a nice white head atop it
Flavor: The taste is unsurprisingly rather sweet and dessert like, balanced a touch by the spice hop
Palate: The body of this brew is fairly light, with a smooth mouthfeel and a really nice drinkability
Overall Impression: This is a super sweet, but still rather tasty offering, in my opinion. Sure, it is kind of a novelty, but a novelty I enjoyed. I enjoyed it enough that I got 2 in a row, which is something I almost never do a place with the quantity of offerings of a Ginger Man. I'll freely admit to being a sucker for this one.

Draft. Pours light orange. White head. Nose is great pie crust, fresh pumpkin pie and light spice. Taste is strong upfront and then drops out in the body, which is on the light side. Enjoyable sessionable pumpkin ale.

On tap at Chelsea Brewing Co, New York on 28 July 2011. Impenetrably black (dark enough to write with); light brown foamy head quick to decay, and sinking temporary lacing. Intense roast malts aroma. Liquid of roast barley; coffee, fresh cookies. Aftertaste continues this rich mix with the introduction of a citric note. Zingy texture, very good.
