12 oz bottle. Pours cloudy golden orange with a touch of carbonation. Sweet apple juice aroma with a tart note and mild, but detectable whiskey aroma. Flavor is fairly sweet apple juice with spiciness, tartness, and yeastiness. Whiskey is just barely hinted at, but there is a touch of plain old wood aging. Finishes tart with a brown sugar note in the aftertaste. Lightly carbonated mouthfeel, as it appeared. Fairly nice.

bottle - Pours pale, slightly hazy yellow-green with just a few bubbles rising. It smells of honey and green apple with maybe a slight floral character. The flavor is very sweet as one would expect from a cider called "honey crisp". It’s light bodied and refreshing with subdued carbonation.

From a bomber. Smells good, sweet apple and apple peel. Looks like a witt beer with its cloudyness and all. Even has gunk on the bottom of the bottle! Nice CO2 buildup on the inside of my glass mug. Taste is rather dry, reminds me allot of the homemade hard cider I’ve brewed. I expected more sweetness as most all the other ciders I’ve tasted have been sweeter and more palatable than my homemade stuff. Alky content sure continues to stick its head up. Every swig is a nice start but becomes a little cumbersome on the swallow. Morphs from friendly to alky with each slug. Rough cider finish.

Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA, opened 10/1/10. Pours a very dark hazy amber color with a thin fizzy head. Aroma of caramel and apples with a tart, earthy finish. The taste is molasses, apples, earthy notes and a bitter nutty finish. Medium bodied.

Hazy golden with minimal fizzy head. Sour apple aroma with a light honey sweetness. The sour apple aroma turns sweet in flavor with light honey, too. Finishes with light tart apple. Pretty decent cider.

bottle - Pours clear gold with a minimal head and a fresh green apple aroma. It has a rich apple flavor and compared to the "light" that I had before it is much more substantial. I don’t know that I’d call it "extra dry" like the bottle says. I still find it rather sweet, but granted it’s not as sweet as their other offerings. There is a little dryness in the finish. Good cider.

bottle - Pours pale yellow-green with a green apple aroma. The flavor is light, sweet, and watered down apple. I was afraid of the latter when I saw it was the "light" version but I was hoping for something better. It’s drinkable and refreshing, but nothing more.

Bottle with much thanks to ltdan.
Pours with a relatively dark (for a cider) and murky amber-orange body with little sign of carbonation. Much less clarity here than most commercial ciders (even from Crispin, although I remember two of the other Reserve Ciders being a bit cloudy). Looks closer to a real homebrew cider that hasn’t been filtered or fined. The dark shade is definitely different.
Aromas of honey, powerful earthy molasses note, plastic, and a variety of yeast based esters. A bit of banana foster. Bready and sweet. Not too much vibrant or acidic apple aromas.
Flavors of yeast esters, apple, molasses, caramel, raisins, sweetened apple juice. A bit of vanilla and banana as well.Somewhat of a short duration. A bit too sweet for my tastes in cider. Doesn’t border cloying like some of the other ciders Crispin makes, but it is still too sweet for my taste. I would imagine that it is back sweetened some how, or the fermentation was halted and then it was forced carbonated.
A pretty big body on this cider, that accompanies the residual sweetness. It is not off putting in the slightest, but it is different than the traditional and drier French and English styles. Thankfully the carbonation is not over the top, just the right amount of spritz to keep things enjoyable.
All around this cider is a unique take on the beverage, and pretty enjoyable to drink. That said, I wish it were a couple of points drier.
