210 ml glass on draft at Mojiko Retro. Murky brownish orange with off-white head. Aromas of banana, yeast, tropical. Tastes of banana, yeast, citrus, light tropical, wheat. Medium body with a dry finish. Not as big of a jump from the regular Weizen that I expected.

Tap at 1020. Pretty golden orange, pastel, cloudy, with a fine head. Nose of orange, grapefruit, clove, wheat. Light and clean, nice hop character with a good light hefeweizen flavor. Big bitterness. Good summer drink.

Tap at Ushi-Tora, Tokyo. Murky yellow color, decent white head. Aroma has clove, banana and citrus. Medium-bodied. Flavor has banana - dryish anyway - clove and citrusy hoppyness. Decent weizen without faults.

An IPA from Mojiko Retro on tap at 2nd Vine. Part of my 1100 yen tasting set. Apparently a collaboration with Booties? Orange rusty copper pour with a thin filmy head. Big citrusy hop bouquet in the nose. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel with a softish carbonation. The taste is citrus, resin, biscuity malts & dry pine in the finish. Good stuff.

5% on tap at Craft Beer Man, 650 yen with a bit more than an inch of head! Excessive on such a small glass... Anyways, on to the beer. It poured an opaque cloudy gold with a big yeasty aroma of spicy cloves & light banana. Very soft mouthfeel on a light verging on thin body. The flavor matches the nose, spicy cloves, sweet fruity yeast & hints of banana but I get the feeling it is undercarbed. Someday, I’ll try this at the brewpub to see the difference. Good, but I suspect under the right conditions this could be great.

On tap at Craft Beer Man, it pours a golden copper color with a citrusy hop bouquet. Medium bodied with a spicy citus IPA like flavor. Quite good, I am glad to see these guys bringing in more interesting stuff.

Ta at Marciero. Bright orange-amber with a low, fine head. Hoppy, Cascade-like nose, lemon, orange, caramel. Flavor is orange, strong caramel, toffee, some diacetyl, grass. Ok bitterness, rather sweet. More like an old-school American PA. OK, but uninteresting. Hard to call this an IPA today.

Draught at Kamikaze. Light hop nose, cascade, golden malts. Very nicely balanced and tasty, good drinking, clean. Very nice but not really special. A bit more bitterness would be good. Somewhat lager-like.

Draught at 1020. Cloudy, muddy brown with lace. Nice chocolate nose, spicy, low bananas. Flavors of chocolate, banana, other estery fruits, rich and round, with a slight tart edge. Very ice cake-like, grainy maltiness and the chocolate stood out more nad more as it warmed. Very nice.
