Draught at the Ji-Beer Festa in Hiroshima, 2012. Medium amber, clear. Nice fruity caramel nose. Subtle. Nothuge but good. Crackery, bready malts, with caramel flavors, sweet, but a dry finish. Really well done and balanced beer.

Draught at Beer Belly Higobashi. Dark brown, close to black, with a fine, low head. Big smoky nose, solid malts, caramel and chocolate. Great smooth body, big and rounded, with wonderful balance. Great malts, very nice level of smoke—less than a classic Bamberger, but just a bit less. Grainy chocolate and some caramel, good level of sweetness, and a touch of tang. A wonderfully crafted beer with the right level of smoke for high drinkablilty. Excellent beer from the new leader in German-style beers in Japan.

cloudy golden color. Clovey with a touch of bananas. Mouth is not too balanced, a touch sour. Clovey finish. Decent, but not great.

cloudy amber color. Big clovey, banana nose. Thick mouth. Smooth. Very rounded, but a bit of a weird aftertaste which I didn’t care for/

Draught at BBS Osaka 2012. Rich, malty, biscuity nose with light hops. Crisp and malty flavor with medium bitterness and nice crackers. Light and clean, eminently drinkable. Great pils.

Draught at the 2nd Vine. Deep, almost glowing golden with orange and a high, fine head. Cloudy. Big wheat nose, with banana and light citrus, peach, clove, ripe mango. Complex and spicy. Sweet, full and rich. Lots of fruit flavors: citrus plus estery banana and peach and some tropical. Nice crisp finish. Really lovely nose as it warmed, with all the tropical complexity coming out. Cherry too. Full, big body with light spritzy carbonation. A great beer.

Draught at Q-Brick. Pretty amber-red color with a high, tight head. Clean, malty aroma with some caramel, cherry, berries. A bit faint until it warmed. Nice malty flavor, with caramel and a bit of cherry. Clean and now sweet, with a nice medium hop finish. Good balance. A nice, tasty marzen without being overly special—a bit light.

Draught at the brewpub. Frothy, thick head. Very clear and clean-looking. Biscuity malt aroma, lightly fruity. Clean malt flavor, crisp with decent biscuity malts and good fruitiness. A nice hoppy finish as well. Very bitter at the end, with the right amount of fruit and malt. To me, like a great South German pils. Excellent.

draught at the brewpub. Beautiful, golden-orange , thick color, cloudy with a high, thick, lovely head. Buttery banana ad clove aroma. Just a bit too much butter, maybe. Amazingly well-balanced flavor. Great fruit, banana mostly, and citrus, with just enough tartness to balance it perfectly. Smooth, clean, and edgeless. A spectacular weizen, IMO. One of the best in Japan.

Draught at the brewpub. Cascade hop and slight caramel aroma. A bit of butterscotch, just enough to tolterate. Light and crisp flavor, litghly buttery with caramel and strong hops, slightly too buttery. Dry, bitter finish. Not mind-blowing or surprising but faultless and eminently drinkable and enjoyable.
