4oz pour at Black Squirrel pours a murky, deep amber with some tight tan head. Nose is very solid, toast and malt, grist, bread crust, soap, mild pine. Flavor is a nice blend of malt and pine, toast, light coffee, light soap. Very malty and gristy with a punch of soap. Dry finish and scary drinkable at 7.4%.

Sampled from the tap at Black Squirrel. Pours a clear brown with with a tan head that dissipates it the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a combination of dark grains and pine with light roasted malts supporting. Flavor has the same combination of dark grains and pine with a touch of bread and roasted malts supporting.

This beer touched off an interesting discussion of the newish trend toward cloudy beers. Although this one is intentionally "hazy," the final decision was that this particular keg was much cloudier than it should be - the appearance in the photo is self explanatory. I’ll seek this one out elsewhere to see if that’s the case. The aroma has fresh orange juice and fresh haystacks. Taste is bitter and juicy orange, very tasty.

Draft at Black Squirrel. Very dark brown color, beige head. Aroma of coffee grounds, licorice. Taste has espresso, smooth chocolate. Nice.

Draft at Meridian Pint. Hazy golden color, white head. Aroma has lime, spice, vanilla. Taste is smooth softly sour citrus, spice, stone fruit. Tasty.

4 oz pour on draft at Meridian Pint. Slightly hazy golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of stone fruit, citrus, light salt. Tastes of funk, oak, citrus, stone fruit, wine, apples, lime, mezcal. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Good balance.

32oz growler from the brewery pours a clear brick red with a ring of white head. Nose has pears and apple, malt, toast, hints of raw cocoa nib even. Flavor has tobacco leaf, raw chocolate, apple, some dried orange, bread, lightly tannic with tea. Dry finish. Ok, but a bit all over the place.

32oz growler from the brewery pours a watery, deep brown with some creamy, sudsy off white head. Nose is what you expect, its got some bread, some malt, some creamy oats, light soap. Flavor follows, bread, toast, brown sugar, light nougat, mild molasses. Creamy and dry on the finish. Easy drinker.

32oz growler from the brewery pours a clear orange with a ring of white head. Nose has butterscotch, malt, some buttered biscuit, a little lemon, some tea, grist. Flavor has butterscotch candies, mild pepper, malt, honeycomb, a bit buttery. Sweet finish. Not an ESB, crank those early hop additions up!
