Tasting at Matt's, corked; vintage 2018
Dark purple colour, indeed elderberry juice. The smell is not good, there is acetone, cheese, poop/diaper, bread; sour, fruits. Sweet and sour with respectable body strength; moderate acidity, too much acetone; elderberry juice, and final astringency.
I love elderberry wine, unfortunately this is seriosuly flawed.

375mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out rich dark berries upfront, with oak, light wild yeast, and some high quality balsamic. Flavour is along the same lines, with tart, dark red berries, and a little oak. Really nice addition of the elderberries, adding a rather deep complexity. Very good.

Draught, Alibi. Hazy dull tan. Thin head. Has a sweet marmalade sort of orange nose. Tart up front, some orange, but also a little yeasty and not in a good way. I mean it looks like the fermentation was a touch off, and yeah, there's something unpleasant in the background as well.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Hazy pale blond colour with generous head. Mild aroma of grassy hops. Dry and crisp, but also very weak body, traces of malt, decent bitterness, with light hop character. A bit metallic.
Timid but quite drinkable.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Hazy golden colour with pale red shades. Light aroma of citrus and vinegar. Moderately acidic, very astringent, the orange character overwhelms the beer.
Not the best sour from Moon Under Water.

650mL bottle, pours a cloudy dark orange with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out the bourbon barrels upfront, followed by caramel and bready malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of bourbon barrels upfront, light toasted caramel, and toffee. A bit perfumey and boozy, but it works. I like the barrels here. Very good.

Amber, hazy, with a medium head. On the nose, this has a nice fruity depth, showcasing a range of sultanas, dried apricots, brown sugar, amazingly some of the citra shows through. The hops are actually quite bright on the palate. It has a really nice fruity depth, a touch of juicy acidity, berries, a firm malt backbone, and barely any alcohol character, maybe just enough to dry out the finish a touch. Stylish brew, lots of fun.
