Oxford Tasting, bottle
Black colour. Good blend of roasted malts, vinous character, acidity, fruits. I wish it were bolder and sweeter.

500mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out very subtle port barrels, with a touch of pithy blackberries, and a touch of toasted malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with port barrels, light oak, and light blackberry. The flavours are very mellow and lacking oomph. Dull and lacking dynamics.

Dark brown, thin head. There's a touch of berries, some mellow chocolate notes. This has a nice chocolate note, and a hint of berries. This isn't bad - not my type of beer, but it's decent.

Hazy, sort of a dullish colour. There's a lot of passionfruit on the nose. Nice tartness, bit yeasty, with a balanced passionfruit note. Simple but effective.

Draught at Darby's Gastown, Vancouver
Hazy blond colour. Mild citrus hop aroma. Lean mouthfeel, very light residual sweetness; the malt base is non descriptive, there is a mild yeast character, balanced bitterness, some citrus peel.
Timid example of the style, but clean and balanced.

On tap at Darby's Gastown, pours a fairly clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma has a lot of earthy brett, with some feet-like notes, and a musty character. Flavour is along the same lines, with a musty, earthy character, and some brett funk. Not the most invigorating brett character, as it really is too musty. But it's okay overall.

On tap at their brewery in Richmond. Aroma is kind of a muddy affair of brett and lager mushed together on a wooden platter. Has soft white head and a clear darker gold body. Flavour is nice heavy hops boosted by brett yeast, and there seems to be hints of lemon juice in there. Palate is a little too watery and could use more concentration. This is not a bad experiment but needs more density to be truly exciting.

500ml bottle from the brewery bought on Zwanze Day. Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is spicy, fruity, with funky notes. Taste is similar with moderate fruity sourness and some tannins. Interesting.

Taster at the brewery with Farees and Brian during Zwanze Day. Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is fruity and sour, similar to many other kettle sours. Taste is similar. It's ok.
