Bottle, courtesy of Papsoe. It pours a clear, amber body and dense, small, off-white head. The aroma is far from bad, but really boring. Slightly roasted malts, dried fruits and some piney hops on the nose. Full body, pleasant carbonation. The flavor has caramel and a slight roasted touch, as well as some dried fruits. A decent beer, but not a very interesting bockbier, lacks a bit all over. 110129

Bügelverschlußflasche (thanx to Quack-Duck!): Deep golden, cloudy, bigger fluffy off-white head; chalk and/or milk-coffee (!?) and a tinge of bananas in the fruity nose; soft, almost medium bodied, moderate sweet-sourish flavour; becomes more bitter towards the fruity and wheaty-malty finish. Not my cup of tea, but still O.K. ....

(swing top bottle) Cloudy, amber colour with a medium-sized off-white foamy head. Sweet milky and yeasty (cara-)malty aroma with a touch banana and dried apricots. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Cara-malty, yeasty and rather restrained fruity taste with a tinge of wheat and rising herbal hoppy notes; bitter-sweet, slightly chalky and hoppy finish. Not perfectly balanced. 20.IV.11

Bügelverschlußflasche (copyright by Quack-Duck!): Amber coloured, visible carbonation, big rocky off-white stable head; clean caramelly-toasty nose with certain nutty traces; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; slightly lingering toasty-nutty finish, completed by a harsh-bitter aftertaste. Quite clean, quite O.K. ....

Bügelverschlußflasche von Stefan: Very deep amber coloured, bigger beaten-egg-white-like tanned head; solid toasty caramelly nose with fruity and mainly chocolatey aromas; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, soft; lingering chocolatey-toasty finish, becomes drier towards the end. Chapeau! An unexpected gem from the GDR.....

(swing top bottle, with thanks to Quack-Duck) Deep brown, almost black colour with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Slightly sugary sweet and roasted malty aroma with distinctive notes of dark and milk-chocolate, accompanied by a herbal and ethereally touch. Balanced roasty bitter and sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a pleasantly calm carbonation. Roasty malty taste with notes of chocolate, liquorice and herbal accents; sweet and roasty bitter, quite balanced and lasting finish. A pleasure; like a bottom-fermented Sweet Stout. 16.III.11

(swing top bottle) Slightly hazy, chestnut-brown colour with a medium-sized and slightly beige foamy head. Sweet and slightly toasted malty aroma with notes of chestnuts, biscuits and traces of vanilla. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a slightly harsh carbonation. Mildly toasty malty and nutty taste with caramel, biscuity/bready accents and a herbal touch; sweet-bitter toast-malty and delicately herbal hoppy finish. All in all a pleasant Dunkel. 16.III.11
