Description
Ruddles Brewery was a brewery in Rutland, England. The brand is now owned by Greene King who still brew beers under the Ruddles name in Suffolk, although the current recipes are not those used at the original brewery.

Ruddles became owned by Watneys in 1986, and then Grolsch in 1992, it was sold to Morland & Co in 1997. Morlands moved production to Abingdon only for that site to be closed by Greene King which took over Morlands in 2000.

There is a separate entry for the pre 1986 independent Ruddles.

April 2015. Cask half pint at the Jack Fairman (JDW), Horley. Deep golden to copper colour, small white head. Moderate aroma, malty with hints of toffee and a little fruit. The flavour is malty but not sweet, with a slight but pleasant tingling fruity sensation on the tongue.

Hand-pulled pint on 6th September 2024 in the Telford Town Centre Wetherspoons. When ever I go into a 'spoons' I ignore this beer thinking I've rated it years ago, on this day however I checked and to my dismay discovered I had in fact not done so (even though I know I've had it before). Clean amber body, off-white crown and only £1.79 a pint. It has a slight bitter taste with a caramel sweetness in the background. Not bad at all, certainly no negative thoughts from me, maybe a bit thin, but it's a 3.7% cooking bitter after all.
