Bottled 500ml. -Darker amber coloured, medium sized off-white head, mild nutty nose. Sweet malty, nutty and grainy with notes of hops and caramel. Moderate dry finish. Not bad.

Sweet with a bitter edge aroma, dark amber beer. Sweet flavour and slight bitter backtaste. Alright but not memorable.

500ml bottle - Deep ruby with thin white head, slight carbonation. Aroma of hops, a bit malty, sour fruits on the tongue. A bit oily, with the carbonation nipping the tongue. Not unpleasant.

In Jan 2007 I wrote this on BA: Clear 500ml bottle from my local Morrison’s. No best by date. Rear label claims it was brewed by; Ridley’s Brewing, Westgate Street, Bury Saint Edminds, Suffolk. Looks like an Irish Red in its bottle. Looks even more like an Irish Red in my pint straight sided sleeve glass. The off white, light tan head soon goes to leave a wisp-like nothingness. If your feet smell and your nose runs, you are built upside down, my nose can’t smell anything here. Not even something nasty. The taste is OK, a bit fizzy maybe, but barley and hops are in there somewhere, the bottle mentions Fuggles, but I can’t find them from this pint. Beery aftertaste, dryish and hops, slightly watery for a 5.1% beer. I am sure Old Bob and myself have met before, in a cask life, this is not as I remember him.

[Cask at the Duck & Pond, Harrow] Pours amber-red with a thick creamy head. Rich fruity aroma (plums) is rather let down by the taste - the orange up front is nice, but then there’s a lot of standard GK toffee malt, with a dusty, suplhurous finsh. On the sweet side. Couldn’t quite understand the high ratings on this one - seemed like juat another boring GK bitter to me?

Bottle from Tesco
Caramel brown, crystal clear, good frothy white head, some lacing
Aroma - caramel malts..soft fruity spicy hops..slight yeast...light toffee...very slight minerals...no skunk
Taste - caramel malts...spicy bitter hops...yeast...some toffee malts...bit of soft dark fruits...quite a complex flavour
Palate - soft carb...medium body...caramel malts. Finish fairly dry..moderate bitter hops some salty minerals (very slightly metallic) in the linger
Ovreall - Best beer I’ve tried from Greene King so far - a lot better than the other GK beers I’ve tried
