750ml bottle [as "Borbecker Heller Bock"]. Minimally milky, dark yellow-ish to orange golden colour with average to huge, frothy, osteoporosing, white head. Sweet-ish, minimally grainy and strawy, pale malty aroma, a touch of honey, weak, lactic, sour-ish undertones with a touch of sauerkraut. Taste is sweet-ish, minimally starchy and strawy, minimally biscuity, pale malty, minimally fruity hoppy, notes of floral honey, a touch of mandarine, mandarine flavoured cookies, very weak, tart-ish, minimally lactic undertones with a touch of lemon juice and sauerkraut.
Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, medium to fine, dense, mildly prickly carbonation.
Minimally past beyond BBE, starts to develop an interesting transitional stage before really going bad; displays some character, maybe only exactly at this stage - nice.

Pours clear blonde, Medium small white head, very stable. scent is honeyed malts, creamy, recognizable helles. Taste is smooth, pleasantly bitter, fresh, mild sweetness - not as sticky as other Helles. Quite enjoyable. Don't really get the caramel part from the dampf-part.

Bottle, shared by Cunningham/ChrisOfstad. A hazy golden colored beer with a white head leaving some curtains. The aroma has hay,, pale malts and grass, with a distinct yeasty touch. Some fruityness. It's medium bodied and softly carbonated, quite dry, with a gentle bitternes. The flavor is grainy and hayish, lightly fruity and with a gentle herbal hint. Medium length finish. Quite dull this one. 240728

0.75 l bottle from 'Getränke Kosmol', as 'Borbecker Dunkler Bock', best before November 2024. Clear, reddish brown with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, a bit fruity aroma of grains, straw, lemon peel and a touch of caramel. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, a little fruity taste of grains, straw, lemon peel, just sime caramel and light honey, followed by a short, moderately bitter, gently grassy finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Interesting Bock, quite fruity, grassy and fresh for a dark version. Actually resembles the pale version a lot, just looks different.
