Leicht eingetrübt bernsteinfarben mit weißer Schaumkrone. Getreidiger, leicht hopfiger Geruch. Geschmacklich getreidig, malzig, leicht hopfig. Mittlere Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit sanfter Kohlensäure.

Bottle. Nut brown colour with a mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is toasted, some wooden and mild rye bready tones. Flavour is rye bready, some mild alcohol sweetness with wood and some mild toasted tones.

Meusel-Bräu Spezial-Märzen (ja, auf dem Etikett steht ein Bindestrich, Ihr Legastheniker!), Flasche von Hopfen & Malz im Wedding. - Bronzegold, klar; spärlicher Schaum. - In der Nase mildes, schwach toastiges Malz und nur blasse herbale Hopfung. - Antrunk leicht toastig-hellmalzig mit sehr milder hopfenwürziger Herbe. Milde, schwach karamellige Restsüße. Milder rezent, für ein Märzen recht leicht im Körper. Im Abgang kommen auch keine Überraschungen mehr. - Ganz auf Leichtigkeit und Süffigkeit getrimmtes Märzen, das nur durch dezentes Toastmalz an seine ursprüngliche Bestimmung erinnert. Kann man mögen, muß man aber nicht. (8.6.2021.)

Fläschla (Danke Martin fuer Martini-Bock!): Deep copper coloured, clear, small and loose off-white head, dried fruits and toasted malt in the moderate sweet and mildly bitter nose; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, a bit fizzy, a bit sticky; hardly full bodied; lingering sweet-bitter fruity and toasty finish. Not too complex, drinkable though...

Meusel-Bräu Martinibock, Flasche (MHD: 25.06.21) von Hopfen & Malz im Wedding. - Tiefdunkles Kupferrot, klar. - In der Nase enttäuschend schlankes dunkles Malz, blasser krautiger Hopfen, Grapefruit und eine unheilvolle säuerliche Note. - Antrunk fein essigsäuerlich dunkelmalzig mit Kakao, Bayrisch Blockmalz und einer blassen Restsüße, die aber gegen die deplazierte Säure nicht mehr richtig zur Geltung kommt. Milder rezent, vollmundig. Im Abgang dezent malzbitter, krautig hopfenherb und vor allem weiterhin leicht säuerlich. - Leider nicht das erste Bier von Meusel, das schon weit vor Erreichen des MHD säuerlich bis essigstichig daherkommt. Dieser Brauer scheint ernsthafte hygienische Probleme zu haben - das läßt sich nicht weiter taktvoll verschweigen. (29.12.2020.)

Sample thanks to Grumbo: Poured a dark brown with a off white bubble head. Aroma is dark fruit, plum, raisin. Taste is tangy dark fruit, plum, bitterness.

25/4/2020. Bottle courtesy of Idiosynkrasie, cheers Boris. Pours dark amber brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of dark plumy fruits, sour stone fruits, malts, raisins, caramel and molasses. Moderate sweetness, light bitterness and moderate sour. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Grower.

500ml bottle. Clear, dark chestnut colour with ruby glimmer and average, frothy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white to beige head. Sweet-ish, dark malty aroma, notes of malt lozenge, dark caramel, a fruity touch of plum, plum wine, whiffs of alcohol. Taste is sweet-ish dark malty, notes of malt lozenge, dark caramel, fruity hints of plum, plum butter, some alcohol. Oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, lingering malty finish.
