The family business is now run by the 14th generation (currently Manuela and Bernd Schäfer), an experience that you can taste: The traditional expertise, together with crystal clear water from its own well, guarantees the best raw materials from the region and the highest Thuringian brewing art real quality beers. In 1997 a completely new brewery was built in Sonneberg, which is one of the most modern breweries in the industry. 0,5 l bottle purchased somewhere in the Erzgebirge. Clear dark golden to copper in the glass, nearly two finger foamy pale beige head. Smells grassy grainy caramell with metallic parts. Taste has caramell, malt, fruity elements like apple. Low bitterness. Smooth and easy drinking stuff.

500ml Bottle - Dark brown with red tinges. Raisins, berries and a hint of marzipan in the aroma. Blackcurrant, plums, raisins and some slightly grainy notes in the taste. A pleasant surprise as I was not expecting too much from this.

"Gessner Heller Doppel-Bock", Flasche (50 cl) von Getränke Hoffmann, Berlin. - Satt goldgelb, klar.
