20cl can at Hashimoto, Rimini, Italy. Pours fully transparent. Aroma is mild anise. Body is average. Taste is medium sweet, with some real bitterness coming up later, and some acidity. Final is long and pleasant.

720 ml bottle from Furusato Nozei. Picked it up after seeing the ratings of my German friends. Big, spicy, fruity nose. Lots of ginjo-ka, western pears, melon, cedar. Mellow, viscous, clear. Slightly sweet flavor of ripe pears, rice, a touch of vanilla, melon, apple. Very rich and spicy, not the typical ethereal fruitiness of a refined daigin, but more solid. Silky, lovely body. Peppery, prickly finish with some alcohol heat. Fantastic stuff.

Can (black) at Hojoko, 2/1/16.
As far as I can tell, they have the regular nama (yellow), aged 1 year (red), freshly harvested rice (green) and this, containing single distilled sochu (black).
Clear, light pearl-tinted liquid.
Big melon, blackberry and light pina colada in the nose, it smells like a nigori, almost, though with less coconut and pineapple than those usually have. The fruitiness, mixing with the alcohol is interesting, at least and it doesn’t smell fusel-like.
The flavor is quite sweet, immediately, with a light berry-like acidity that I haven’t found in many sakes. Alcohol adds dryness and a good deal of heat, while strong koji notes and light coconut sit on the end. Quite interesting and fairly drinkable, but just too sweet for my tastes.
