Description
Beer was first brewed at Klášter in 1570. In 1621 the brewery became property of the Wallenstein dynasty which remained the owner until 1945. In 1864 the Wallensteins built one of the most modern breweries of its times and towards the end of the 19th century, Klášter Brewery was among the seven largest breweries in Bohemia. Like with all czech breweries after the war the communist period and the reprivatisation in the nineties brough a lot of changes. Since 2012 the brewery belongs to the Lobkowicz Brewery Group.

Bottled. Deep brown colour with a small beigeish brown head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is coffee, burnt sugar, roasted malts, caramel and some slight syrupy notes as well. Flavour is quite similar, in a rather sweet way, but there is also some slight smoked wooden notes to take away a bit of the sweet edge. Easy to drink.

500 ml bottle. Pours clear golden with a big fluffy head. Hay, straw and bread, caramel, grassy hops, citrus, hints of metal. Mild dry metallic bitterness, malty strawy sweetness. Full to medium bodied, oily texture, lively carbonated, mild dry sweet malty finish. More a Helles then Bohemian Pilsner, good nevertheless!
