Bottle. Clear light gold color with a smallish white head that diminished rather quickly. No real aroma. Flavor similar the the aroma. Thin body. Nothing special here.

Bottled, thanks SpringsLicker! Near black. Sweret and very chocolatey, but also somewhat fatty. Medium bodied with dusty finish.

Bottled, thanks SpringsLicker! Aroma of wet hay and yeast. Pale golden with brief head. Medium sweet and nicely rounded, but with cellary apple tones.

Sparkling gold body that floats a big white long lasting head. The aroma is a little subdued, but clean and in balance. The flavor is malty with a nice bitter finish. Clean and refreshing, but needs more assertiveness.

This just came on tap in Knoxville at Calhoun's (at the site where it is actually brewed) . The 2004 batch must be worth a try. Although it lacked a little head, carbonation was right. (It might have started out with a head. I was at a table not the bar) Good malty aroma with just a touch of hop. Malty, but not syrupy sweet, hops very subdued as they should be in a Bock. All in all, one of the best I've had from Smoky Mountain/ Calhoun's.

This has a small head that leaves quickly. No aroma?? A light sweet flavor coupled with a thin body and soft carbonation. Drinkable, but totally unremarkable.

Amber colour with predominant ruby highlights and a thin off-white head. Aroma of concord grapes, caster sugar, malt and a slight sourness. Medium-bodied; Strong sweetness with a large malt backbone with notes of grapes and nuts in the taste. Aftertaste actually quite pleasant, as it combines a grapey sweetness and a palatable malt. Overall, actually a decen beer-better than I had expected, and a great one to finish off from my beers from Tennessee! I got this twelve ounce bottle in an in-person trade with Suttree way back in September! I sampled this beer on 09-December-2003. Thanks again Phil!

Oringinally rated as "Calhouns Velas Helles" 3/22/03: Acquired via trade. The guy with the funny hat on the label is worth the price of admission. Billed as a "light German style lager" which doesn't really tell you much. Pours a gold color with a medium off-white head and mild effervescence. No lacing. Very light and sweet aroma of honey and even a little bubblegum. Very light-bodied with an unimposing hops flavor, with some malt and citrus as well. Finish is lightly sweet. Complexity is not a factor but this stuff is insanely easy to drink.

Acquired via trade. This is the first Smoky Mountain brew I have had that was NOT vinegary. Pours a dark gold color with a medium thin off-white head and mild effervescence. Very thin lacing. Aroma is hoppy but not overly so. Flavor is clean and crisp but not really exciting. Saaz hops are evident throughout. The finish is dry and crisp. Very drinkable but this beer didn't really challenge me in any way.

Acquired via trade. Once again I am let down by a Smoky Mountain brew. I have tried different samples from different trades and so far they have all been sour/vinegary. Pours a weird amber/butterscotch color with a medium light beige head. Light lacing. Aroma is malt and vinegar. Flavor is really too harsh to enjoy at all, you can tell it wants to be malty and smooth but fails. The finish is again sour and fruity. A disappointment.
