Bottle from Alder Carr Farm Shop, Needham Market. Roasty cardboard aroma. Opaque cola brown. It's a lively one - thick foamy beige head. Sour with some bitternes. Dark berries and restrained coffee. Quite tangy. Develops a roasty character as it warms up. Medium bodied. Slick to creamy. Low key fizzy carbonation. Long astringent finish. It's fine. The sourness provides some character.

Served in a glass but originated in a bottle? At Alder Carr Farm Shop, Needham Market. Vague malty aroma. Copper gold. Creamy white head. Medium bitter with a sour tang. Some malts and a sliver of butter. Light-medium bodied. Thin bodied. Lifted by soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry finish. Decent stuff. May benefit from being my first rate of the hols.

Handpull cask at the Grain & Hop Store, Cambridge. Mid-brown, clear and oh so translucent. Smells of chocolate malt, weak coffee and some dusty berry notes. Sweet chocolatey taste at first, but this ushers in a fruity hoppy bitter which clings on to the long finish. Chocolate milk and cherry in the aftertaste. Very watery body. Needs more character, but other than that it’s a fine mild.
