Served from a can into a .5 l glass. Decent color. Quickly collapsing head. Slightly metallic aroma. A bit grassy flavor. Hops conspicuously absent. Very little after taste. Claims to have won a World Beer Award for World’s best lager. I think not.

500ml can. No idea where it came from, but ended in my hand nevertheless. A pretty ordinary beer, smell of stewed barley and a taste of malt. Was okay chilled on a hot day, which it was.

Can in hotel room, Reykjavik. An Icelandic beer just wouldn’t be complete without tasting an Icelandic malt liquor. Yum! Clear, golden yellow appearance with a fluffy, white head. Fairly tame, somewhat boozy, a bit sharp bitter, grainy aroma. Incredibly hard to drink, rich, boozy, thick, sugary malty, nasty, skunky flavor. This is some horrible shit

Can in hotel room, Reykjavik. Clear golden appearance with a white head and decent lacing. Fairly bitter, a little skunky, grainy aroma. Very unbalanced. Simultaneously very sweet pale malty and bitter herbal hoppy flavors as well as an undesirable metallic note. Pass.

Bottle labeled "Egils Boli Premium." I think this is just a relabel but I’ll move it off need be. I was chatting with some drunk Icelanders and they were chugging this shit, so I thought I better try it. Really just another shitty international pale lager with notes of grain and straw but otherwise forgettable.

Tap @ Enski Barinn Reykjavik. A touch hazy, golden appearance with a white head and decent lacing. Skunky, grainy, grassy fairly bitter aroma. Somewhat sweet, actually quite strong straw flavor. This is not a top of the line pale lager and really average at best.

(Can, 0.5 l, courtesy of rosenbergh, 20111229) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was light brown and medium sized. Aroma was excessively sweet with at least treacle, molasses and plum. Palate was medium bodied and sticky with medium carbonation. Flavours were excessive sweetness, molasses and treacle. Aftertaste was unfortunately there and it was also sweet and sweet and sweet. Afwul.
