Description
Established in 1913, Ölgerðin is the Icelandic word for 'brewery', and, as the name suggests, brewing was the company’s main focus from the start. The brewery is named for Egill Skallagrímsson, a Viking Age poet.

Bottled (thanks SADESA, old backlog). Deep ambery brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet malts, caramel, mild liquorice and some plum and ripe fruits. Flavour is sweet malts, ripe fruits, raisins and some mild liquorice as well as mild toasted notes.

Canned (thanks SADESA!, backlog). Yellowish golden colour, small white head which leaves some slight lace. Aroma is bready malts, mild salty and cardboardy notes along with some slight grassyness. Flavour is slight cooked vegetables, some grass, mild cardboard and some bready notes as well. Mild rubbery notes as well as it gets warmer.

500ml red can kindly shared by Elisabeth and Stefan. Clear body that has got a yellow-gold colour. Two fingers white head with some retention. Rings of lacing. Sweet aroma of grain. Sweet pale malty taste, notes of alcohol. Dry ending. Non-offensive, anonymous stuff (Tromsø, 20.08.2012).
