Description
Defying the odds isn’t just what we do, it’s a part of our DNA. We were founded by a woman in 1867. Lived through two wars. Survived a fire. Overcame the Halifax Explosion. Competed as an independent company against breweries 100 times our size. We haven’t just survived - we’ve thrived. And while others back down, we outlast. Moosehead Breweries Limited is the last major brewery in Canada still owned by Canadians. The brewery is located in Saint John, New Brunswick and operates with values that have been safely guarded by the same family for 148 years. Despite obstacles – devastating fires, Prohibition, the Great Depression, two world wars, obstructive trade barriers, and bruising competition from breweries 100 times its size – Moosehead is one of the most durable and long lasting companies in Canada. Ultimately it has been the Oland family’s passion for beer that has enabled them to be successful over the long term. With their product on beer shelves from the Maritimes to B.C., and its flagship Moosehead Lager shipped to approximately 350 distributors in the U.S.; Moosehead has become an iconic mainstay in North America’s beer industry

473ml can. Hazy, deep yellow-ish, bright golden colour with huge, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Zesty, citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, slightly biscuity, pale and oaty malty background, notes of lemon, hints of grapefruit, mandarine, whiffs of yuzu. Taste is juicy, zesty, citrusy and slightly tropical, fruity hoppy, sweet-ish, oaty malty basis, hints of mango, orange, lemon, some grapfruit, mandarine, a touch of passion fruit, mild bitterness. Creamy-watery texture, smooth and soft palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Now this is really a serious effort from Moosehead: a juicy, fruity hoppy NEIPA, no artificiality, no cheapness - there you go!

355ml can. Hazy, dark cellow-ish, bright golden colour with average, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, white head. Tropical fruity, hoppy aroma, notes of pineapple, mango, passion fruit, wheaty and oaty malty background. Taste is bitter, minimally metallic, tropical fruity hoppy, diluted hints of passion fruit, mango, dry, oaty malty basis; mineral finish lacks fruitiness in total. Watery texture, dry palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Slightly ephemeral hop flavours, enormous discrepancy between aroma and taste concerning intensity of fruitiness - not fully convincing.

355ml can at home on 13th May 2022. Obtained from Beers of Europe, purely to help bump up my Canadian rating total (this will my 51st). Very pale golden body, clean and clear; like urine in fact! On top a snow white blanket of foaming bubbles. Corn, rice and all things 'not nice' in the nose and taste. Not a great advert for Canadian beer, shouldn't be allowed to export it!

355ml can from Beers of Europe, drank at home on 1st May 2022. Very pale blonde body, snow white head. Pretty bland and weak, yes I know it's supposed to be a healthy, light lager but it is allowed to have an aroma and taste.
