Zwarte kleur, een dun laagje bruin schuim wat snel verdwijnt en een ringetje overblijft. Geur van drop, umami, geroosterde mout, licht boozy. Retronasaal is het zoetig, geroosterd, iets boozy, umami. Smaak is zoetig met een licht zuurtje, houtig. Behoorlijk warmende alcohol. Medium body. Lange afdronk, gebrand, bitterig tot bitter. Niet helemaal (meer) overtuigend.

Fles 459 van 700, tht 01/12/2025. Gewonnen met de Beer Geeks beat ALS raffle, dank Henk Klijn. Schenkt pikzwart met een bruine kraag die snel wegzakt en een klein ringetje achterlaat. Geur: de turf, jodium, leer en rook spat het glas uit. Retronasaal is het turf, as, en wat zoetigheid met iets rood fruit. Smaak is zoetig en vrij bitter, volop turf en gebrande mout. Lichte tot medium body. Lange afdronk vol turf, gebrand, bitterig. Een beetje over the top misschien, maar ik houd ervan.

330ml bottle [#3/528]. Jet black colour with minimally late awakening, very small, frothy to creamy, rapidly diminishing, barely lacing, tan head. BA supported, roasty, chocolately and slightly spicy, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, notes of dark toffee, dark chocolate, some liquorice, vanilla, whisky, a touch of dark caramel, whiffs of leather, peat. Taste is roasty, slightly spicy, dark malty, slightly caramel malty with low residual sweetness, minimally alcoholic, minimally metallic-mineral, hints of liquorice, iron, BA notes of whisky, peat, leather, a touch of vanilla, salt, weak, fruity-alcoholic overtones with a touch of plum wine, dried dark fruit.
Surprisingly light body and rather watery (or dissolved sugar enriched and simultaneously alcohol thinned, eventually watery) texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, fine, slightly scattered, mildly prickly carbonation.
Some nice subtleties but overall not the most complex Impy Stout, somehow concentrated but seemingly light - an uncomplicated, enjoyable "higher speed" sipper.

Sample, thanks oh6gdx! Clear brownish amber, rich firm head. Haym grain and caramel up front. Mid sweet with medium body and creamy, rounded mouthfeel. Marzipan and grainy hay. Mid bitter finish. Relaxed and pleasant.

Roasty, chocolately, dark malty and caramel malty as well as vinous fruity aroma, notes of molasses, dark berries, hints of blue grapes, some plum. Taste is roasty and chocolately, minimally ashy, dark malty and slightly yeasty, vinous fruity, notes of dark chocolate, hints of molasses, blue grapes, dark berries.
Viscous texture, smooth and soft, slightly cloying palate, fine, soft to flat carbonation.

Slightly hazy amber colour, small white foamy head. Aroma is floral, fruity, some caramel, mild yeasty tones with some toasted tones too. Flavour is floral, some caramel, mild toffee, yeasty and some spicy tones.

Bah, waarom moet het nu ineens politiek correct wezen, omdat Russian nu opeens niet meer kan, terwijl het al tig jaar de naam van de stijl is. RIS.. en het is nog fijn ook, mooie sterke smaken, stevig.. wees trots op je STIJL.. -1 voor intrekken keutel.

Bottle at home. Clear dark golden to amber color, average sized off-white head. Aroma and flavor are malts, hops, bitter hops. Nothing special but not too bad actually.
