Bottle, home. Pours a hazy light amber color with a decent sudsy white head. The aroma is bready malt, apples, mild English hops, light yeast and a touch of caramel - not great. The flavor is out of whack. It’s sweet with a somewhat off-putting fruity malt flavor. There’s almost a bad Belgian phenolic quality to the beer. The finish is mildly grassy. Mouthfeel is fine but the finish is a bit chalky.

While XB Bluebird Bitter isn’t a bad beer, it disappointed me in comparison to the normal Bluebird Bitter. The appearance is a light transparent amber with a head that dissipates a bit quickly. The aroma has some American and British hop notes, which is nice but nothing too spectacular. The flavor is a bit generic and yeasty for an English ale. Unlike the normal Bluebird, this is another English ale that makes me think that English ales don’t travel terribly well.

Light, malty and delicious, Bluebird Bitter is, to me, a very English beer, and I’m happy to get a hold of a bottle around here. It has a very nice, sweet malt character balanced well by some floral-mineral hops. It’s fairly dry for the caramel malt, but then it’s not a very strong beer. The appearance is bright and amber with pretty good lacing. The flavor is nicely bitter from the hops with good balancing malt sweetness. The mouthfeel is very nice, creamy with gentle and fine hop bite.

Bottle. Frothy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Moderate malty and heavy hoppy aroma. Grass and herbal notes. Moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. OIly palate. Nice.

Bottled. Rubyish amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is fruits, earth, some herbs and mild caramelly and bready notes as well. Flavour is very similar, but the maltyness is quite much stronger.

Golden orange color with medium white head that settles quickly and leaves scant lacing. Aroma of pepper and malt. Nice hoppy bitterness throughout, medium body, esy to drink. Good example of the style.

Cask handpull at The Market Porter. Very dark ruby, lasting beige head. Toasty roasty malt aroma. Attractive. Pretty decent. Some dark fruits. Very drinkable.

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is dominated by flowery hops. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of flowery hops, leading to a dry bitter finish.
