50 cL bottle. Great malty aroma, supported by floral hop. Shiny copper color with a frothy head that laces. Medium bodied. Moderately carbonated. Starts with not too sweet malt, accompanied by floral notes, and a balancing amount of bitter. The sweet is something like ripe stone fruit. The long finish is bitter in the mouth. It probably does not get better than this.

50 cL bottle. Ripe stone fruit aroma (seems apricot) and floral/citrus seems to accompany it. Orange tinged golden color, and a white head that quickly films. Medium bodied, slightly fizzy, but no bite. Starts with sweet fruits, like apricot jam flavor, though not that sweet, and the bitter is marvelous. Extremely well balanced by me. It’s just a fantastic ale, and it’s bottle conditioned.

Draught at City Pub, Göteborg, on May 18, 2012Clear golden to honey color, fluffy white head. Malty, bitter, fresh, somewhat fruity, hints of butter, caramel, toffee, floral hoppy taste. Sproitzy mouthfeel, medium high lingeing bitterness. Somewhat berry and fruity fresh aftertaste. Fresh, fruity, floral, caramel, toffee scent. A touch of butterscotch in both scent and taste.

Very nice bitter. Comfortable to drink, nicely balanced. Hazy yellow/golden poour with long-lasting off-white head. Aroma is quiet like the flavor — some malty sweet toffee, lightly toasted bread and a little sweet cookie in addition to hints of grapefruit. The flavor is moderately sweet and nice balanced with a moderate bitterness. There is a slight tartness that seems out of place. Lively carbonation and nice mouthfeel.

Pours bright amber into an English pint. Crisp white micro head with excellent retention. English hop and malt aromas. Soft with upfront caramel and a slight metallic flavor that really detracts. Lasting bitter hop finish.

White head is full and mostly lasting, creating gentle lacing in patches. Peachy-marigold color with a ruddy auburn glow. Clear and bright, leaving any sediment in the bottle (don’t think there’s much). Plenty of large bubbles rise in the liquid.
Very peppery nose. Like dusty/spicy hop pepperiness. A hint of very light orange rind and passing resemblances to grapefruit, but a dry, doughy yeastiness seems a bit too pervasive and dulls the hop aromatics somewhat. So it remains mostly dusty and dry. Malt is full of biscuits, graham crackers and dry barley flavors. Dosent seem like much of the maris otter makes it through. Not that full, somewhat sticky, round sweetness that I’d expect, anyways. Probably in part, due to the attenuation, but the crystal malt just seems to add too much dryness/hardness. Still, it’s definitely got a good strength to the aroma and even if things tend a little dry/crusty, there is still plenty of malt character.
Sweet, warm, honey white dough wraps around the palate upon first sip. Some deeper brown bread and cracker-like notes begin to assert themselves, but a gentle spiciness from the hops, with a mild, but noticeable bitterness helps keep things balanced. Leafy, very dry citrus peel, with definite earthy undertones and spicy and dusty notes, characterize the hops. Very indecisive palate. Not quite hard, yet not quite soft. I would expect more softness from the maris otter, though. Carbonation, while quite voluptuous, is actually rather tight, creating an almost creamy effect on the palate. Honey and crackers linger, with more hop spiciness. Sweetness actually comes to be more dominant than the dryness, with warming/breathing. Quite drinkable, but I remember it being significantly more fresh and drinkable on cask.

Bottle, SBWF 06. Clear dark golden colour. Small frothy white head. Rather bland flavour. Quite clean, a bit like lager. Not bad, but not interesting either.

Bottle at Bishop Arms, Gothenburg. Dark golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is hop, fruit. Flavour is hop, fruit, malt. Light bitter finish.
