Description
The Dortmunder Union Brewery (DUB) was established in 1873, the first brewmaster was Fritz Brinkhoff (1848-1927), who worked 50 years for the brewery. In 1887, a failed brew was delivered to a customer in Aachen which was a huge success. The Dortmunder Export was born.
In 1994, the Union Brewery took over the Dortmund Ritter Brewery, established in 1889, and renamed itself the Dortmund Union Ritter Brewery. Production was relocated from the city center to the previous production facility of the Ritter brewery on the outskirts in Lütgendortmund. In 2002 the Union-Ritter-Brauerei was renamed the Brinkhoff Brewery, and in 2006 production was relocated to the Dortmunder Actien-Brauerei.

Typical golden lager appearance
Aroma of light sweet lager malts, hint of grass
Taste as aroma, dab of light bitter grassy hops
Palate - Medium carb and body.
Finish is a bit more bitter, quite clean
Overall - Ordinary pale lager, bit better than the usual macro offerings

On-tap pint in The Bradford Arms Hotel, Llanymynech, just inside Shropshire. Nowhere near as good as I hoped, watery and weak. Looked fine, golden, clean, clear and bright with a decent white crown on top. Just boring really, moved onto bottles of Warsteiner which were a whole lot better.

Bottle. Dark yellow with a decent head, not much in terms of lacing. Aroma is noble hops and grains. Taste is grassy, grainy, earthy, a little bit spicy and nicely hoppy in the aftertaste. Strong carbonation. Crisp, clean and goes down really well.

On tap. Clear, golden yellow with a thin, foamy, slowly diminishing, white head. Slightly sweetish, fruity-grassy aroma of fresh grass, some grains and a touch of citrus. Slightly bitter, moderately grassy-fruity and a bit grainy taste of fresh grass, some citrus and a touch of grains, followed by a short, moderately grassy-bitter finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay!

Half-pint, from keg at Beer Cellar, shared with Finn on our pub crawl in Exeter. White tophead, solid lacing. Bright late straw coloured body. Pale malty aroma, mid-sweet. Subdued taste profile of cereal and grass. Mid-sweet endnotes. Crispy. Clean and easy going (28.09.2016).
