Description
The Dortmunder Union Brewery (DUB) was established in 1873, the first brewmaster was Fritz Brinkhoff (1848-1927), who worked 50 years for the brewery. In 1887, a failed brew was delivered to a customer in Aachen which was a huge success. The Dortmunder Export was born.
In 1994, the Union Brewery took over the Dortmund Ritter Brewery, established in 1889, and renamed itself the Dortmund Union Ritter Brewery. Production was relocated from the city center to the previous production facility of the Ritter brewery on the outskirts in Lütgendortmund. In 2002 the Union-Ritter-Brauerei was renamed the Brinkhoff Brewery, and in 2006 production was relocated to the Dortmunder Actien-Brauerei.

Bottled. A light golden beer with a thick white head. The aroma is freshly grassy hoppy combined with a light malty note. The flavor is sweet malty with a fresh prickling hoppy and grassy note.

Pours a light golden colour with quite a lot of white head. The aroma is grassy and hoppy as is the norm for the style, but it’s perhaps slightly less pronounced in this beer. A nice mellow flavour of hops and citrus fruits. There a malty sweetness on the finish. Quite pleasant.

(33cl bottle) Clear, mahogany colour with a small foamy off-white head. Sweetish and slightly tart cola-like and fruity nose. Strong cola taste with shy hints of malt in the background, not to speak of hops; sugary sweet finish. Useless brew.

(33cl bottle) Clear, yellow colour with foamy white medium head. Moderately sweet, citrus-fruity nose with a distinctive grassy, metallic hoppy touch. The use of Brinhoffs in here is obvious. Sweet flavour, light body, ok carbonation. Light malty notes, citrousy taste; slightly sweet and slightly tart finish with shy traces of hops.

Bottle: Greenish to pale golden coloured, smaller fluffy head, quickly diminishing; sweetish-citrousy nose, mixed with some grain; sweetish-sourish flavour, very light bodied; short sweetish-sourish finish, a bit adstringent in the aftertaste. Yawn........

Test vom 24.10.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 11,11,10,11,11,11 - 10,85
