Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear. Dark mahogany colour, no head. Toffee aroma. Bit dull in mouth. More toffee on end. It’s got some toffee throughout. Fine.

Cask sampled with Finn. Unclear pale golden. Short lived white head. Diluted ginger in aroma and taste. Wet paper note in mouthfeel. Not my kind of beer (The Glasshouse in Norwich 26.09.2006).

Cask gravity at The Swan at Wittersham. Reddish brown, thin white head. Bit of diacetyl maybe? Caramel/toffee. Good malt. Nice red berry fruit. Bit too buttery for me.

(Cask at City Arms, Manchester, 27 July) Colour is golden amber with a thick white head. Nose is fruity with mandarin, orange and apricots. Same goes for the taste: fruity with orange, mandarin and apricots. Starts a bit sweet, turns drier with a spicy, flowery hop character in the finish. Balanced bitterness. Refreshing.

Cask handpull at Market Porter, Borough. Hazy gold colour with thin white head. Good malt/hop balance. Juicy malt in mouth. Just some odd flavours, bit of bleach? but a good citrus finish.

Cask handpull at County Hotel JDW Ashford. Golden with lasting white head. Grassy hop aroma, some grapefruit/lime. Not served freezing cold for once. Not overly full in mouth, bit of a dirty flavour. Finish is a bit flat, some lemon acidity. Starts well and then fades

An amber-red beer with a huge light orange head - quite dark for a bitter. The aroma is sweet malty with a hint of acidity, while the flavor is acidic malty with light notes of caramel.
