Description
Casa Agria Specialty Ales is a small brewery focusing on mixed fermentation farmhouse style ales and barrel aged wild ales in Ventura County, California. Like much of California, Ventura County agriculture and farming has played a vital role in the development of the communities here throughout time. The mild climate and rich soil allows for several harvests throughout the year making it one of the most valuable resources here. For these reasons the farmhouse style is a perfect style to refresh during a warm dry winter and a mild summer day alike from one harvest to the next. Further influence is found in the food ingredients and diverse cultural traditions of the people who shaped the California of today.

Head gone in seconds over ochre beer with a faint rosy sheen. Sweetish, vinous, fruity, old barrels. Wooden barrels, incense, red fruit, vinous, lactic acid. Serious acidburn, and some alcoholwarmth. Outstanding!

Good yellowish head over faintly hazy orangey-golden beer. Golden fruit as peach, pineapple, passion fruit; lactic acid and Brett/Pedio... Sourish and light sweetish fruity flavour; again yellow fruit as above + a hint of lemon, lactic acid. Light, dry; acidburn and -thinning, if mild. Refreshing drinking sour with an excellent aroma.

Poured from a 16 oz can. Aroma has nice stone fruit, overripe tropical fruit and citrus with light resin notes. Mango, melon, peach and tangerine. Light malt notes with some light cracker notes. Pours asuper hazy, murky, dull, golden brown with a medium sized, thick, white head that recedes steadily to the edges where it lingers throughout. Medium light lacing and small legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with medium light grain notes and a bit of cracker malt flavor. Medium bitterness and faint alcohol spice. Moderate hop notes of peach, mango and tangerine. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent IPA but the hop profile doesn't come through enough in the flavor. The malt notes are a bit muddles as well.
