Description
Casa Agria Specialty Ales is a small brewery focusing on mixed fermentation farmhouse style ales and barrel aged wild ales in Ventura County, California. Like much of California, Ventura County agriculture and farming has played a vital role in the development of the communities here throughout time. The mild climate and rich soil allows for several harvests throughout the year making it one of the most valuable resources here. For these reasons the farmhouse style is a perfect style to refresh during a warm dry winter and a mild summer day alike from one harvest to the next. Further influence is found in the food ingredients and diverse cultural traditions of the people who shaped the California of today.

Pint can pours with a crystal clear deep gold body that supports a white head of foam. The modest aroma offers up clementine to tangelo citrus hops as well as thin layers of softer citrus to tropical fruitiness. The taste delivers both tangy and bitter citrus hops that range from clementine to tangelo to grapefruit to a bit of lime hop bitterness with a bit of a hop flavor backbone. There is a vague tropical note that's kind of guava to faint passion fruit. This achieves a tasty hop bitterness to hop flavor balance with only modest malt sweetness. Nice West Coast IPA.

Pint can pours with a crystal clear gold colored body that supports a somewhat short lived off white head of foam. The aroma offers up a blend of guava, mango, herbal green kinda floral hops as well as some clementine citrus into the end of the draw. The taste delivers similar notes of mango and guava soft sweet tropical fruitiness punctuated by tangy citrus and bitter herbal grassy like hop notes. It becomes a little more cantaloupe and honeydew toward the finish. Overall the hop bill isn't totally working for me. It does end pretty crisp, so there's that bit of goodness too.

Can from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy gold with a head that died during pouring. Aroma has the pink guava, marshmallow and pineapple. Med body. Moderately tart/sour. Definitely approachable tho. Flavor is strongly pineapple, the two other things sort of get lost. Good flavor tho. More: pink guava shows up in the finish.

Can from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours translucent gold with a large creamy white head. Aroma is dankish, has some citrus. Med body or better. Dry and bitter. Could be a touch of passion fruit, but citrus and dankish does the job. Very nice.
