Description
Casa Agria Specialty Ales is a small brewery focusing on mixed fermentation farmhouse style ales and barrel aged wild ales in Ventura County, California. Like much of California, Ventura County agriculture and farming has played a vital role in the development of the communities here throughout time. The mild climate and rich soil allows for several harvests throughout the year making it one of the most valuable resources here. For these reasons the farmhouse style is a perfect style to refresh during a warm dry winter and a mild summer day alike from one harvest to the next. Further influence is found in the food ingredients and diverse cultural traditions of the people who shaped the California of today.

Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours clear brassy gold with a decent white head. Aroma seems towards tropical. Med body. Clean and arguably crisp, though a bit heavy on the bready side. It's decently bitter. Flavor is earthy/floral/white grape/melon and more. With a pause gooseberry is discernible.

Casa Argus Seabirds 4.9% German Gose with blackberries Salmon pink with a pink grapefruit juice look to it. It had about 1cm of pinkish white foam. The aroma is tart blackberries. As I had it out next to my Muji bakery raspberry donut the aromas merged to provide a sort of fresh pine needles undertone. Full bodied with a crisp finish, it’s got a bright sharp flavor profile. The sharply tart raspberry glaze from the donut cancels out the blackberry tartness bringing out the underlying Gose base beer. Good beer and I was really not expecting that salmon pink color.

Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours clear bright gold with a large creamy white head that went foamy and did some lacing. Aroma is tropical with white grape and melon. Med body. Tropical and juicy. Lots of hop in this. Not really sweet. Moderately bitter. White grape, melon and some green herb stuff. I keep thinking dank. It's really nice in the mouth in several ways. Really nice.

Ridiculously hazy, almost perfectly straw coloured body with a ghostly white glow, all with a very large, six to seven centimetre tall off-white but microfoamed head that caps the beer for a long time, above the 95 per cent (at least) opaque body. Aroma of oranges, flowers, honey, chamomile tea, guava and a very good kick of bitterness in the nose, too. Medium to Full-bodied; Very rich and super easy-drinking malt notes here show oats and wheat, with a crisp and pretty citrusey fruit note of oranges, with some grapefruit and mangoes here as well, but not too much else after that and more dry than sweet, with a light bitterness and having the alcohol hidden well, too. Aftertaste is clean with a pretty nice and grassy, almost saison-y like finish with a kick of hop bitterness of lemons and grapefruit zest, but no sweetness again and only a faint bit of alcohol. Overall, a pretty nice beer that is a nice complex mix of IPA styles with some New England, brut and West Coast styles all seemingly in here and executed nicely with an easy-drinking, yet complex bite. Great to sample and while not local (I found this in New Jersey), I'll look for others from this brewery despite the price! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 03-September-2022 for US$5,39, canned on 16-March-2022 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 15-October-2022.

Draught at Gourmet Haus. Slightly hazed light gold with a moderate white head that retains throughout. Lemon, citrus and slight dank aromas and flavor. Only slight alcohol heat, and an easy drinking 8.8%er where the alcohol is well hidden. Nice and smooth.
