Description
Casa Agria Specialty Ales is a small brewery focusing on mixed fermentation farmhouse style ales and barrel aged wild ales in Ventura County, California. Like much of California, Ventura County agriculture and farming has played a vital role in the development of the communities here throughout time. The mild climate and rich soil allows for several harvests throughout the year making it one of the most valuable resources here. For these reasons the farmhouse style is a perfect style to refresh during a warm dry winter and a mild summer day alike from one harvest to the next. Further influence is found in the food ingredients and diverse cultural traditions of the people who shaped the California of today.

On tap at Bottlecraft - North Park, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma has some allium, with tropical fruits, tart citrus, and a nice hop tang. Flavour has some tart citrus, allium, and pine. A bit too oniony and tart citrusy, but it’s obviously well-made.

Poured up on tap at Tipsy Cactus where it exhibits a dark murky mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up molasses, German chocolate cake, cherries and then malty dark chocolate fudge. The taste delivers stewed cherries, chocolate fudge and molasses. The cherries become slightly tart from time to time too. It picks up boozy heat midway and into the after taste helping to counter the sweetness. The adjunct treatment is a little too forward covering the beer flavors. Dialing the treatment will improve the experience.

Can at home shared with Laura. Hazy yellow color, full sized white head. Aroma is mainly citrusy. Flavor is lightly malts, again citrusy, with a light sweet touch. Hmm not much depth. Average body, light texture, average carbonation. Mwah.

Can from Trader Joe's in Davis, CA. Pours light bright gold with a large creamy white head. Aroma is bready with a hint of spiciness. Med body or nearly. Flavor is bready and maybe some Noble hop. Something with a little bit of spice. Malty but not really sweet. Could use a little more bitterness, but as is will do for food was.
