(Keg at Kochi Ait Trahter, 20141227) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had caramel, toffee and roasted malts. Palate was medium bodied and lightly sticky with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, toffee, caramel, nutmeg, clove, burnt malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and mildly bitter. A way too sweet brew. The ABV was rather well hidden.

50cl on tap at the brewpub. Very hazy golden with a small, white head. Mild malty aroma with some hoppy notes, herbs and hints of grass. Moderate sweet, mild flavours and a light bitterness in the finish. Fair enough and refreshing on a hot day, but nothing yo write home about.

Aroma is malty and bready with loads of syrup. Flavour is rather sweet with bread, some root beer and sugary tones. Comes rather closer to a root beer at the end of the mug; there’s just malt telling the difference. Surprisingly drinkable and rich, I expected this to be more sweet and sticky.

Aroma is syrupy and sweet with malty tones and hints of spices. Reminds me of some baltic porters from Estonia. Flavour is rather sweet with some chocolate, syrup, malty tones and some spices. Also some licorice. Finishes with some herbal and spicy tones. Smooth and creamy palate. Very rich but then again way too sweet and sticky. One christmas porridge.

Aroma is rather bready with malt and some roasted tones. Also hints of coffee and nuts. There’s also a slight sour aroma close to Koulu house aroma. Flavour is also rather bready with malty tones, some sourish notes and nuts. Also hints of milk chocolate. Starts to feel a bit sticky and syrupy after some sips. Bready and almost contaminated.

Aroma is yeasty with some funky and fruity tones – reminds me of Puls nisu. Flavour has some grassy tones, bun dough, funky yeasty notes and some banana. Finishes with more grass – this has actually more hoppy tones than hefes usually. Some distant yeasty off-flavour at the end of the glass. A bit floury but nice still.
Quite interesting that their pale lager looks less filtered than this. I wonder what makes this a wheat ale? The extra hops? Tastes more like hefeweizen.

Aroma is quite nothing – perhaps some sweetish hay notes and hints of grass. Flavour has hay, grainy malt and some odd milky tone I find hard to describe. Also some raw dough here and hints of citron. Weird but not completely bad – but my party would not be going with this.
Gets stronger aromas after warming up – nice grassy tones here.

Aroma is quite nice with coffee notes, nuts, and some cocoa. Flavour is a bit odd and somewhat syrupy with roasted notes, coffee and dark chocolate. Perhaps a bit harsh and too syrupy but still better than I expected. This gives burps with Koulu house aroma – or then it was the Munk I had before this. Go figure.
Aroma improves as this warms up – but flavour is still same milk chocolate and syrup. Tastes even sweeter now. Perhaps also some ashy tones.

Aroma is malty and syrupy with some christmas bread. Also some distant sewer tones. Flavour has sweetish malty tones, syrup and some bread. Some herbal and spicy tones in the background. Too sweet and sticky.
Also some berry tones typical to dunkler bocks show up when this warms up.

Aroma is hayish with buttery notes. Also some grainy malt and hints of grass. Flavour is dry with hay, some grassy hops and some grain. Finishes with herbal tones. Also some slight plastic off-flavour. Quite easy-going.
This is quite close to their pale lager - but the lager is more refreshing and this one has butter.
