5th January 2020
Can. Light haze on this gold beer, decent pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Smooth malts, a light creamy sweetness. Good piney citrus. A little hop spice. Trace of citric peel. Light crisp finish. Decent but nothing amazing, a most frustrating dipa evening.

Can at home from Sterk, Amsterdam, 29th December 19. Pours a dark amber, really dark. Aroma is pith, marmalade. Taste is pithy, citrus, bitter, yeehay this is nice, pithy, malty, classic DIPA style

22/11/2019. Can from Lauvas Alus, Riga. Pours hazy golden orange with a white head. Aroma of passion fruit, mango, grapefruit, citrus, hops and lactose. Medium fruity milky sweetness and light bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Very drinkable.

Can at Distillers Republic, Riga Why do I always end up drinking Hopalaa beers when I’m out with Fat Phil ? Some of them are quite nice, but most, like this one are pretty naff. Anyway, There is a slightly hoppy nose. Pours a hazy chrome yellow with a small white head. In the mouth it is vaguely hoppy with grapefruit and passion fruit notes. Finish is like industrial cleaner wiped across your tongue ! Not for me.

Tap at Lauvas Alus, Riga Now this is more like it ! Pours a slightly hazy pale orange with a strong white head and good lacing. A sweet butteryness in the nose, and nuts and corncob in the mouth. Hops take time to arrive, but they are there in the finish. Alcoholic strength shows in the end as well. Very drinkable for the strength. Much better than hte “Cloud” series.
