Description
Hardywood officially began its mission to brew with purpose in late 2011 as one of only two craft breweries in the city of Richmond. Our original brewhouse and taproom was a vacant warehouse discovered in a long-forgotten neighborhood known nearly a century prior as Richmond’s German Brewing District. Hardywood has been drawing new life to this forgotten area one draft pour at a time. We now operate a 20-barrel brewhouse and taproom in the original location, as well as a 60-barrel brewhouse and destination brewery in the West Creek area of Richmond, right on the border of Goochland County.

Today, Hardywood continues to develop and deliver on its mission with a sharp focus on brewing quality, sourcing local, environmental stewardship, community engagement, and giving back.

Poured a hazy yellow-orange color with a small white head. Aroma was big Belgian notes, peachy, with cobbler notes and creamy vanilla. Flavor was similar, really dug this one at the time.

Small bottle. Massive spices, lead by the ginger which gives it the Christmas. Sweet and too sugary, reminiscent of Mexican chocolate beers. Heavy, good to split up.

I don't think jagermeister can go bad, but if it could, then it would taste like this. Ginger and something like nutmeg. Light roast. Black pour with good head. Sweet kind of tangy finish. Bottle.

Can from USA with my buddy Chris. Yellow gold hazy, decent head. Tropical light-piney nose, hint of caramel. Nice body, a bit sweet, not super bitter but the pine notes help balance it. Citrusy forest goodness.

Can from my buddy Chris, brought from USA. Light yellow gold hazy. Mild grapefruit nose, fruity goodness, flavor is thin but nicely refreshing. Mild bitterness. Awesome on a hot day when you don't want a high alcohol beer.

Stubby from Tavour. Pours clear, dark mahogany with a slight, transient tan head. Aroma is dark fruits, heat and bourbon. Approaching full bodied. Flavor is plummy, maybe with some cherry, heat, bourbon, caramel tending toward dark for malt support. It's not dry, but not at all sticky. Bitter, but I'm not sure what that's from. Touches of non-musty wood. Excellent flavor.

12 ounce can thanks to hershiser2! 4/30/22. Hazy orange, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of doughy malt, lemon. Taste is lemon, pale malt, tangerine, raisin. Crisp. Decent.

Bottle - lightly hazy gold with a soapy head/lace - super dry and peppery - despite the dryness, there is a distinct berry undertone to the flavor - quite bitter, aromatic, botanical - reminiscent of a dry gin - it’s actually really nice to see a super dry, super bitter IPA on the market - so many now are too sweet and/or lacking balance - I actually think this is an excellent example of a dry American ipa.

Bottle - label states Citra and Mosaic, 7% abv - flavor certainly delivers on the name - there is a definite sweet citrus character up front, along with some mango - a peppery bitterness develops late - overall hews a little closer to a traditional American ipa, which is fine - decent beer.

Pint bottle. Poured a clear dark brown, almost black colour with a short-lived, fizzy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt and molasses. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter, with a roasty, dry spicy coffee, liqourice, dark chocolate, light warm boozy alcohol palate. Over medium bodied with average carbonation.
