Crisp caramel coloured body with a very thin, just off-white head that starts at only a centimetre in height, and fades very quickly. Aroma of grass, light toffee, relatively pungent nuts and a good dose of caster sugar and the strongest - biscuity malts. Medium-bodied; Deep nutty flavour with a good earthy quality that shows some bitterness, but a lot of bite, all with a robust caramel sweetness that overshadows the bitterness and punch of the malts and earthy flavours, that show up largely at the end. Aftertaste shows a nice biscuity and relatively understated malt character at first that then shows the earthy and nutty flavours towards the end, all with a good layer of sweetness from the caramelised sugars, light apples and pear notes and some caster sugar as well. Overall, a good marzen with a nice biscuity quality with some sweetness that balances well and is relatively easy-drinking, especially for a lager. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Hy-Vee in Omaha (Papillion), Nebraska on 07-October-2019 for US$1,99 sampled in my hotel room here in Omaha, Nebraska on 09-October-2019.
