Cask at the Chelmsford Summer Beer & Cider Festival, Essex. Pours clear dark gold with a lasting white head. Aroma of hop, citrus fruit, light malt with floral notes. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Light body, slight watery texture, average to soft carbonation.

Handpull cask at the Mill, Cambridge. Golden brown, not quite clear, with a fairly large loose white head. Gooseberry and papaya in the aroma with a touch of resin. Taste is sweet with tropical fruit notes at first, but turns to bitter for the long finish. A touch of soap in the aftertaste, along with more papaya, squash and apricot. Not perfect but a really moreish pale ale.

KeyKeg at the 2017 Cambridge Beer Festival. Light orange/golden and very hazy. A little bit of spotty white head floats on top. Some mango and orange juice in the aroma, which complement the tart funk. Taste is pretty sour, with notes of lemon and kumquat rind to the fore. Clean tart finish with a touch of salt. Well-made but probably a little bit lacking in flavour for me.

Keg at the Cambridge Blue. Gold, clear with almost no head. The aroma is indeed very enticing. Kaffir lime leaves, some juniper from the gin, lemon peel. Taste is a bit bitter, sour and medicinal. The promise of the aroma fizzles out a bit, and I’m left with a fairly workaday beer. Heavy carbonation, which hides the thin body. It works, but not as well as I’d like. Not really getting any wheat beer vibes. A bit of a forgettable beer.
