Description
Independent Brewery producing a wide range of Cask, Keg, Bottled and Canned beers. Products available direct from the on-site shop and tours are available about twice a month. Most beers are now gluten free.

From modest origins in July 2011, which saw Nene Valley Brewery operating with just a two-and-a-half-barrel facility, the company moved into its new riverside premises at the end of that year and now operates a 15-barrel installation. Brewing is undertaken once a week with a range of products distributed to local pubs, wholesalers and direct to the public.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers Graham! Gluten Free. Golden colour, white foam head and aroma of floral, citrus, hops. Taste is sweet, malty, grain, tangy, fruity, spicy, mellow citrus and earthy hop bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry spicy hoppy bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Pint in the pub garden on an early Friday spring evening. Perfect pour and just how a cask porter should be. Deep brown in colour with rich malts and a welcome farmyard tang. Great way to start the weekend.

Keg draught at the Tap & Kitchen, Oundle. Light gold and a little hazy with a small film of white head. Big aroma of gooseberry and pineapple with an underpinning of sweet vanilla malt. Sweet balanced taste, gently malt-led at first but bringing in the bittersweet fruity hop. Ambrosial. Light body with carbonation on the heavy side, lifting the experience. I love NZ pale and this is no exception.

Handpull cask at Tap and Kitchen, Oundle. Reddish brown and clear with an uneven beige head and a little lacing. Nose has a bit of sulphur to it, a bit weird. Also woody character, some red berry. Taste has even more sulphur to it, with a dry bitterness pervading. Long tannic finish. Body feels full with very little carbonation. Usually love Nene Valley but this fell short.

Keg draught att he Tap and Kitchen, Oundle. Light gold, clear with a small ring of off-white head and good lacing. Sweet aroma with stone fruit, candy sugar. Gorgeous sweet taste, more stone fruit, some grapefruit, touches of white pepper and spruce. Medium body, slightly oily, carbonation on the high side. This is a really good pale from Nene Valley.
