Keg draught at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Dark gold and slightly hazy with a sizeable off-white head. Piney character to the aroma, some papaya and melon. Bittersweet taste with big tropical flavours with mint and white pepper, and a surprising bitterness in the finish. Big body, heavy carbonation. A strange one, not anywhere close to NV's best but a drinkable and different to the norm DIPA.

Keg at BD Soho, panda at home, 21/10/22. Deep amber with a reddish lean and topped with a beige covering that thins to a swirl. Nose is dried red berries, hint of pine, caramel, brown sugars, modest hop presence. Taste comprises toffee, brown bread, light pine, caramel malts, red berries, brown sugars. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with modest hop bitterness. Tidy enough offering for the style if perhaps a touch overly sweet.

Keg draught at BrewDog Leicester. Dark brownish red and only slightly translucent with no head. Big malty aroma, lots and lots of resinous character and oak with berry notes. Gorgeous malt and cola nut in the taste with some bitterness in the short finish. Some chocolate notes in the aftertaste. Lighter bodly than I'd expected with medium carbonation. A cracking amber beer.
