Bottle from Liquor Max in Loveland. Dark reddish copper color with a decent beige/tan head. Aroma of smoked. Maybe some caramel. Medium body with medium carbonation. Flavor is smoke over caramel. I think there’s hop, cause there is some bitterness, but the smoke sort of covers the details. Finishes smokey and fairly dry. Really interesting, and the concept of 10.2%? Damn well hidden. There’s a niche for this excellent beer which proves heavy lagers don’t need to be sweet.

Bottle at home ... Thank to Secret Santa 2008 for this one ... slightly smokey chocolate malts ... again a slightly chocolate malt with amerivan pale ale hops ... quite mellow ... little sugar ..

Bottle at home ... Thanks to Secret Santa 2008 for this ... crisp copper ... sweet slightly smokey malt nose ... over fizzy ...smoked (oh i see it is indeed) ... light toffee malts ...good depth ... American pale ale hop ... oh for something that i though was a lager, this is quite tasty ...

Pours opaque black with a fleeting tan head. Chocolate, coffee and alcohol come to the nose from this lightly sweet chocolaty brew. Little bitterness. Tasty!

Bottle thanks to Swalden28. Pours a hazy golden brown with a small, white head. Aroma is caramel malt, nut shell, floral hops, pepper and dirt. Taste is hoppy bitterness with light fruit notes and water. Kind of stale. Lively bubbles.
GABF week 2012. On tap at the brewery. Pours with a clear golden hued body with a lasting white head. Aromas are citrusy, floral, pine, tangy, caramel. Flavors are sweet with a lot of caramel, lightly citrusy and light pine. Medium carbonation with a sweet finish.

Bomber from Liquor Max. Pours a very dark black with minor ruby glints. The head is tan, multifinger and creamy. The aroma is just chocolate. Body is no more than medium, and the carbonation is creamy. Flavor is sweet, chocolate with hints of treacle and coffee. A bit of oaky astringency comes out towards the finish. Heat is detectable, perhaps too much so. Still, it’s a good tasting drink.

Bottle on 12/13/2008. Very dark black body with a medium creamy light brown head. Big chocolate aroma with some roast and faint coffee hints and some hop hints. Big chocolate and coffee flavor, some roast with a bit of hop flavors and a dry moderately bitter finish. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

Bottle on 11/28/2008 in the Great Butters Tasting of 2008. Clear copper amber body with a small frothy off-white head. Bready and toasty, slightly nutty aroma with a caramel background. Bready, slightly grainy flavor, with nutty and caramel notes, some vegetal notes hiding in the background. Medium light body with moderately high carbonation.

This beer pours an opaque dark brown color with a medium and foamy beige head that recedes slowly. Large patches of lacing on the glass. Cocoa and coffee in the nose. Medium, smooth body with flavors of sweet chocolate, mildly bitter coffee and malt. The finish is roasty with a malt and coffee aftertaste. Overall this is a pretty good Chocolate Stout. Probably not a fair comparison as it is not Imperial but Southern Tier blows it out of the water and I would always go to Choklat before this.
