Bottle courtesy of Butters on 08/12/2008. Very clear copper amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Big earthy and floral hop aroma with a big malty background and some citrus hints. More floral and light citrus flavor, smooth caramel background. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Bottle, courtesy of Butters, partially to make up for the Tequiza previously forced upon me on 08/12/2008. Clear copper amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet smoked malt aroma with hints of ham and salt. Smoked malt flavor, some faint caramel. Medium body with moderate carbonation with a very smooth gentle smokey finish.

Dark brown with beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, coffee and chocolate notes. Plenty of chocolate in the flavour and to follow it up comes roasted malt and delicious coffee notes. Delicious!

Bottle. I am not sure what the elephant is doing in the Rockies. Anyhow, pours copper with little head. Aromas have a very heavy pineapple edge to them. Flavor is crisp pine and citrus hops over a caramel malt body. This is very nice stuff and I dont see how it is rated so low.

Bottle. Retro Red pours a lovely ruby with a little bit of a beige head. Aromas are nothing like I would have guessed... they are kind of earthy (nuts, red wine, peat, toffee), with little hops presence. I am not sure what I expected, just that this was not it. The nutty malt presence comes through heavily in the flavor. This is pretty good, but is just another amber. I have no idea what they are talking about with their \"our hoppiest Specialty Ale.\" Hops are hard to find apart from a bit of an herbal edge to the finish.

Pours a hazy dark amber, with a sticky, thick lace - a lot of hazelnut in the aroma, along with vanilla, hints of wood, and even a little bit of spiced rum character - fairly sweet, but tempered but moderate hop bitterness - a lot of nutty character, hints of chocolate, coffee, toffee, toasted grains - lightly bitter and spicy in the finish - this is pretty good - a somewhat underrated brew, in a severely underrated style.

On tap at David Copperfield Pub New York 20-11-08. Pours dark brown with an off white head. Some light cocoa dusting on nose with a bit of roastyness going on also. The taste is not a million miles from Youngs Chocolate Stout but not as good, the chocolate is weaker. I’m not so impressed its thin watery yes there is coffee and chocolate but not enough to keep me interested. A5 A3 F5 P3 OV10 2.6

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a minimal tan head. Heavy aromas of dark chocolate and charcoal get my hopes pretty high. Flavor is really interesting. It has a great cast, in order of dominance, smokey charcoal, dark chocolate, vanilla and coffee. That said, they do not come across as particularly full. It is like they are all holding back a little or something. It is not like it is watery, just like the flavors are a little washed out. Good, and if the thinness issue was not there this would be great. Still, for a stout with a 5.3% abv, this is really good.

Bottle. Black colour. The flavour is sweet and nice, roasted and creamy. Hint of creamy coffee and vanilla. Not much chocolate IMO. But nice.
