A deep dark reddish brown ale with a thick receding light moka head. A sweet nutty aroma with vanilla, vinous notes, a bit of mashed peas. In mouth, a good nutty malt, with wooded notes, molasses, and some lactic notes. Rich, earthy and warming. Bought at Half-Time, Summer 2008, tasted Sept. 2008.

12 oz bottle purchased at Lukas in Overland Park, Kansas. Pour is clear golden burgundy with a very minimal off white head. Aroma of sweet biscuit maltiness, some honey notes. Taste is the sweet maltiness initially, moving to an almost soda water mineral in the middle, finishing with a smoky roastiness that kind of came out of nowhere. Palate is thinnish, drinkable with a dry ashy finish. Not unpleasant, just a bit disjointed.

Bottle. Tan head, frothy, mostly diminishing. The body is black, but not opaque. The aroma is is full of dark chocolate and roasted malts with notes of grain, grapefruit and coffee. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. The finish is lightly bitter and moderately sweet. Strong taste of chocolate syrup. Medium to full body with a watery texture that turns sticky at the end. Medium carbonation. The alcohol comes through in the finish. This is an OK stout, but it’s overly sweet even for a sweet stout. At first, this is quite enjoyable, but it gets cloying after awhile.

12 oz bottle-pours a foamy white head and yellow color. Aroma is sweetish, grain/wheat, chamomile?, slightly off. Taste is musty/sweet grain/wheat, some fruit/chamomile? Is it pomegranate juice concentrate or real pomegranate, read the label-its both. Mild carbonation. Not my taste.

Crystal clear orange tinted golden body with a nice sized, fast-fading white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, coriander seed, curacao and a bit of cherries - no pomegranate noticeable. Medium-bodied; Sharp hop flavour and alcohol noticeable up front with malt and yeast following soon afterwards with a bit of fruit, not much. Aftetaste shows metal, malt, alcohol and a tiny bit of hops - no freshness or fruit. Overall, not such a great beer - this one really should be avoided. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 12-July-2008, sampled18-September-2008 at home in Washington.
