Description
Creative brewing is all about not sticking to the same old formula. Since 2008 we have experimented with different combinations of hops and ingredients to find both traditional and excitingly new tasting ales. We brew it with the care and attention we believe it deserves. Finest English malt is the base for all Backyard Brewhouse beers but it does not stop there. Combinations with hops such as New Age American, Old English, Slovenian and New Zealand as well as one or two other secret ingredients have helped make all our beers popular and distinctive. We are committed to creating new and interesting beers to sit alongside our range of core and regular products.

500ml bottle: BB March 2022. Drank at home on 3rd April 2022, so a month out of date on opening. Clear and clean mahogany/amber body, off-white head. Malty nose, toffee and caramel, taste also has a malty molasses type front. No Rye mentioned on the label, but it has that Rye flavour (and look) you get when it's added to a beer.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. Mid-gold cour, clear with a frothy white head. Grassy hop aroma with a touch of ammonia. Bittersweet taste, nicely balanced with slightly range bitterness in the finish. Light body, soft to medium carbonation. A decent beer and a good exhibition of Centennial in a British beer context. One of those beers that's better than the sum of its parts.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. Mid-gold and clear with a small white head. Light notes of pear and melon with some grassy character. Bittersweet balanced taste with pear drops and orange peel, leading to some slightly sulphurous bitterness in the finish. Soft carbonation, big oily body. I like this.

Cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours a golden yellow with a msall white head. Summer fruits and a trace of citrus in the aroma. In the mouth there is a very brief sensation of hops before Sweet malts and tangerine assert themselves. Later on floral hops stage a recovery. Texture is quite watery. Finish is malty and slightly smoky. This is alright but not wildly ezciting.
